Canon's EOS C500 Mark II digital cinema camera features a 5.9K Full Frame sensor with dual output gain and high dynamic range shooting capability up to 15 latitude steps for enhanced HDR recording and low noise. The EF mount offers compatibility not only with Canon's wide range of DSLR lenses, but also with any EF-mount cine lenses, zooms and even anamorphic lenses. In addition, the mount is also interchangeable with a PL mount, and B4 is available as an option.
The Canon C500 Mark II features a CMOS sensor that is paired with the Canon DIGIC DV7 image processor, which uses the RAW information from the sensor and processes it for various applications, such as high frame rate recording, RAW recording, HDR-PQ output, electronic image stabilization (EIS) in addition to the body's own 5-axis stabilization, or proxy recording.
The sensor of this Canon C500 Mark II uses a high-quality chromatic interpolation algorithm when oversampling at 5.9K for 4K/UHD recording. This suppresses moiré effect and reduces noise, resulting in a superior image quality.
This digital cinema camera records on dual CFexpress cards, and has an SD card slot for recording additional images. High frame rates of 120fps can be recorded in 2K RAW. Canon's Cinema RAW Light and XF-AVC recording formats for Full Frame or Super 35 (cropped) are supported, providing 4:2:2 codec imaging. Proxy recording is also supported, allowing for a significant increase in post-production speed.
To make post-production work even more flexible, the digital cinema camera also offers Canon's Log 2 and Log 3 gamma modes, which result in excellent tonal reproduction in the highlight and low-light regions of the image, and extended dynamic range. The C500 Mark II camera also supports custom user LUTs, which can be used on monitors, on the LCD screen or in the viewfinder, to ensure the most accurate color. Support for Canon's Dual Pixel CMOS AF (autofocus) not only provides accurate autofocus, but also features reliable manual AF and face detection up to 120p.
The camera has up to 12G-SDI output via a single BNC cable, HDMI connector (type A). The Canon C500 Mark II also features an Ethernet output (RJ45) and IP control and transmission via ethernet or WiFi connection. This digital cinema camera supports up to 4 channels of audio via the internal microphone, mini-mic input and XLR ports, and an expansion unit can be added to support up to four XLR inputs. The body has a modular design, which can be completely disassembled or built up using the included handle, 4.3" rotatable touch screen LCD unit with full controls, grip and thumb rest.
