Canon XA11 is a
compact,
small and
lightweight professional
Full HD camcorder with a built-in
20x HD Zoom lens. Its high
versatility makes it a perfect choice for both fast and dynamic shooting where mobility and speed are a must, such as
sports events or
news coverage, as well as more static footage for
documentaries or
independent films.
Its
high definition 20x digital zoom lens has an extraordinary focal range of 3.67-73.4mm, equivalent in 35mm to a
range of 26.8mm up to 576mm, and an
8-blade iris designed to reproduce reflections smoothly and more realistically. It has 4 possible speeds: variable, constant, fast, normal or slow.
The constant speed also has 16 levels of adjustment that provide the possibility to zoom in and out according to the characteristics of the recording.
This zoom lens has an aperture range of
f1.8 to f16, with the closest aperture position twice that of previous models. Outdoor shooting in bright environments is now possible without the need for ND filters.
Its remarkable
minimum focusing distance of 20mm at its widest angle position and 60mm at its most telephoto position allows constant focus at minimum distances, perfect for nature or product shots.
The 1/2.84-inch
HD CMOS Pro sensor with
1920 x 1080 resolution and
2.91 effective megapixels has been implemented to help capture images in low light conditions and reduce noise. It is capable of capturing video at
24p, the cinematic standard, and up to
59.94p, and allows shutter speeds of up to
1/2000.
Its
WIDE DR gamma 600%
dynamic range expansion system is designed to record images that do not require contrast or brightness adjustments before being uploaded or sent for finished display.
With its use as an run-and-gun camera in mind, and thanks to its DIGIC DV 4 image processor, Canon incorporates a low-distortion
5-axis Dynamic IS stabilisation mode designed to deliver smooth recording, even while walking, at its widest focal lengths.
This powerful processor enables simultaneous recording in multiple codecs,
AVCHD or
MP4, and even at
different bit rates. This feature means that without the need to convert the files, we can directly obtain two versions of the same recording to use according to our needs, streamlining our workflow.
With memory cards installed in its
two built-in SD/SDHC/SDXC slots, 3 different recording possibilities are possible.
Sequential recording mode automatically switches recording to the second memory card when the first is full.
Dual Slot recording provides a backup while recording by recording images simultaneously to both slots. Finally,
Dual recording consists of simultaneous recording to both cards but with different codecs and bit rates.
For precise control over the shooting of your images, Canon has installed a
3-inch OLED touch panel, with a 10,000:1 contrast ratio and a colour electronic viewfinder with 1,560,000 dots of resolution.
Its advanced
tactile autofocus system incorporates a
face detection mode that is ideal for recording events or news coverage. It is designed to offer instant response with medium speed of focus change for a realistic feel.
It features automatic modes for exposure, white balance, gain and shutter speed, as well as a fully manual mode for customised settings.
The white balance includes six presets (Daylight, Shade, Cloudy, Tungsten, Fluorescent H and Fluorescent) and also allows manual adjustment in 100K increments from 2000 to 15,000K.
Within the menus, which can be accessed by touch panel, there are professional functions such as
peaking or x2 magnification for focus assist, 70%-100%
zebra for correct aperture calibration, pre-record buffer and colour bars and tone.
On the audio side, the canon AX11 integrates a
microphone and
two XLR microphone inputs with +48V phantom power for the connection of external microphones. On the camera's detachable handle are manual audio level controls, a 3.5mm headphone jack and 16 volume settings.
There is a
Mini HDMI port and a
composite mini AV port for video and audio transmission.
Other outstanding features offered by the AX11 are an integrated high-speed USB (mini-B) port for downloading images from the memory card, 1920 x 1080 resolution photo shooting or an infrared shooting mode for recording in extreme low-light situations.
