The MKH 418-S stereo gun microphone features an M-S format, compact dimensions and excellent consonant clarity. Good spatial representation makes it ideal for all types of applications in film, radio, television and reporting, both indoors and outdoors.
The MKH 418S has 2 independent acoustic systems to generate the mid and side signals. The medium signal (M), or mono is generated using an internal shotgun microphone. With its frequency range of 40 Hz to 20 kHz, the shotgun accurately reproduces the audio with extreme focus, emphasizing the signal pickup in the direct (front) axis section.
The shotgun also rejects the signal in the off-axis (side) sections of the microphone, minimizing noise and further strengthening the pickup area. The side (S), or stereo, signal is generated using a separate internal microphone system that features a figure-eight polar pattern.
