Eizo CG2420 ColorEdge - Color Correction Monitor

EIZ-CG2420

The Eizo CG2420 ColorEdge monitor has a native 1920x1080 resolution. The 24.1" IPS panel has a maximum brightness of 400cd/m² and achieves a contrast ratio of 1500:1. The LCD module allows a 178-degree viewing angle and maintains stable colour tones and contrasts in the user's viewing cone. This monitor has a 10-bit panel with True Black and DUE digital uniformity equaliser, which ensures that equal tones are reproduced at all points on the screen. It integrates a calibration sensor in the screen frame that can be used while working with the monitor or programmed for an autonomous calibration outside the hours of use.

Wide Gamut Colour Space

In order to use the full colour spectrum of modern film and video cameras, you need a monitor with the widest possible colour gamut, otherwise visual evaluation and processing of the saturated colour tones contained in the file is not possible. That's why the IPS panel of the CG2420 ColorEdge covers, for example, the large AdobeRGB photographic colour space. The EIZO monitor also offers great advantages for printing: it covers almost the entire CMYK colour space (e.g. ISO Coated and U.S. Web Coated). You can already see on the screen what the subsequent print result will look like and save proofs.

Smooth transitions and gradients thanks to 16-bit LUT and 10-bit panel

The LUT (Look-Up-Table) of the Eizo CG2420 calculates internally with an extremely high colour depth of 16 bits and the panel then outputs the signals with up to 10 bits. This means that billions of colour tones are available to calculate the precise display of the monitor. In this way, display errors caused by the monitor, such as banding or clipping, which lead to broken tonal values in gradients or colour casts in greyscales, are effectively avoided. Even nuances and fine structures in dark or highly saturated areas of the image are still displayed in a differentiated and detailed manner.

True Black

The CG2420's high contrast ratio shows deep blacks, which often appear pale or washed out on a typical LCD monitor due to backlighting. This is especially true when viewing the monitor from the side in dimly lit rooms. The CG series is equipped with a retarder film for this purpose, which allows for this depth of black tones, even at wide viewing angles.

Digital Uniformity Equalizer (DUE)

The panel of each monitor is accurately measured, over its entire surface, at the EIZO factory. Any inhomogeneities in brightness or colour shades are detected and eliminated. This process (Digital Uniformity Equalizer, or DUE) ensures that identical colours always look the same throughout the lifetime of the monitor, regardless of where they are displayed. This is the only way to accurately edit and retouch images.

Integrated calibration sensor

With the CG2420's integrated calibration sensor you achieve maximum colour accuracy. The sensor adapts perfectly to the monitor, takes into account environmental influences such as light, and correlates the centre and edge of the image. This ensures a uniform result across the entire monitor.

The sensor is located in the frame of the housing and only extends over the screen for the measurement. Therefore, no external calibration device is necessary and the colour accuracy of the monitor is optimal at all times.

The CG2420 is equipped with the latest sensor technology, which allows recalibration during operation. This allows you to continue working with non-colour critical applications while the monitor is being calibrated. The sensor only occupies a small space on the screen during calibration and therefore does not interfere. Calibration can also be performed fully automatically at definable times, even if the computer is turned off or not connected to the monitor at all.

Stable colour reproduction in just seven minutes

With a conventional monitor, it takes at least 30 minutes for brightness, colour type and tonal values to stabilise. In contrast, the CG2420 ColorEdge takes just seven minutes, so users can rely on reliable colours soon after turning on the monitor.

Out of the factory ready to work

To ensure that a ColorEdge monitor is ready for use straight out of the box, each CG2420 is individually measured and optimally adjusted at the factory. The gamma curves of the red, green and blue channels are carefully checked and, if necessary, corrected. This unique EIZO factory calibration allows the user to use the monitor with preset colour spaces right out of the box. This elaborate factory calibration is also the reason why recalibration with ColorNavigator by the user is so fast.

EIZO software for quick calibration and printing

All monitors age and change their display properties. Therefore, graphics monitors, which require an absolutely constant image display throughout their lifetime, must be calibrated and corrected on a regular basis. This CG2420 colour corrected monitor is delivered with the ColorNavigator hardware calibration software. It can be carried out in just a few steps even by users without in-depth knowledge. Advanced users can specify brightness, gamma and white point and other calibration settings numerically as target values. Since calibration is performed via the monitor hardware, it is lossless and independent of the computer and graphics card. The CG2420 fits perfectly into an existing system.

EIZO Microchip

The CG2420 has a high quality ASIC microchip that EIZO has developed especially for the special requirements of working with uniform colours. This microchip is the brain of every ColorEdge and the guarantee for the precise, uniform and consistent image display for which EIZO is known.

Ideal for video and film editing: HDMI

Movies are normally recorded at 24fps, so when played back at 60Hz, as is common with monitors, they look unnatural. The monitor supports 24 and 60Hz frame rate, so you can watch and edit your footage as it was recorded.

HDMI signals support 60, 50, 30, 30, 25 and 24Hz refresh rates. In addition, the monitor features I/P conversion between interlace and progressive.

One monitor, many connections

The Eizo CG2420 supports a wide range of video formats via DVI-D, HDMI and DisplayPort interfaces. USB connections are also available.

Flicker-free and glare-free

The monitor does not flicker at any brightness setting. The advantage is that your eyes don't get tired as quickly. You can work on the screen for the long periods of time that image editing requires.

The CG2420 ColorEdge offers an optimal anti-glare surface that minimises reflections by scattering reflected light. The CG2420 effectively prevents glare and eye fatigue. In addition to reducing eye fatigue, one can sit comfortably in front of the monitor without a "forced position" to avoid glare.

Flexible stand

Eizo displays can be infinitely adjusted in height and, depending on the model, can be lowered to the very base of the stand. This allows for optimal ergonomics, whether you are standing or sitting in front of the screen. You can also swivel, tilt and tilt the monitor stand in the way that is most comfortable for your sitting posture.

The CG2420 can also be rotated in portrait format, which is a great advantage for corded shots in portrait format in person shots, for example.

Light protection visor

The light protection visor reduces reflections and glare on the screen and is easy on the eyes. It is easy to fit and reduces the incidence of light from above and from the sides.
