The Canon XA55 is a compact and lightweight camcorder perfect for 4K recording. Regardless of your skill level (whether you are a student or an amateur) it is suitable for documentary filming or journalism.
This videocamera enables high-quality 4K UHD recordings that can be easily incorporated into any workflow thanks to the HDMI and 3G-SDI output. It has a Canon 15x optical zoom lens and allows you to easily capture content and record it to SD, SDHC and SDXC cards (with 2 slots), or share it later in XF-AVC or MP4 formats.
The Canon XA55 Capture incredible 4K UHD and Full-HD images of superior quality thanks to the 1.0 type CMOS sensor and DIGIC DV6 image processor. In addition, the Canon XA55 features a 5-axis stabilizer that will make its operation without a tripod very useful in "handheld" recording moments.
This camcorder records in XF-AVC 4K UHD at 160Mbps at 25P and Full-HD at 45 Mbps. When a smaller file format is needed it can record in MP4 in 4K at 150Mbps and MP4 to Full-HD at 35/17 Mbps.
Output options include HDMI with a mini HDMI connector, a 3G-SDI output with BNC connector and USB with support for min-B, Hi-Speed USB and PTP classes. It also has two SD card slots for simultaneous backup and uninterrupted recording.
The Canon lens covers from 25.5mm wide-angle to 382mm telephoto (35mm equivalent). Minimum focusing distance is 10mm at the wide-angle end, 60cm at all focal lengths. It also features ND filters: 1/4, ND 1/16 and ND 1/64 which will be helpful for outdoor shooting.
Use the 3-inch LCD screen that allows you to control the focus by touch to keep the subject always in focus and prevent the recording from being out of focus.
For more specific recording, record in slow motion in FullHD 0.5x or in fast motion in 4K/Full HD up to 1200x. You can also adjust the color with other cameras from the same manufacturer through its own menu.
In the audio section the Canon XA55 has 4 channels: linear PCM, 2 XLR terminals and integrated microphone. 3-pin XLR connectors with 48 V phantom power, line and microphone options with removable handle. It also has a 3.5 mm microphone input connector (2.4 V DC power supply voltage) and also has a built-in microphone.
As for the audio recording format, it can record in MPEG-2 AAC-LC (16 bits and 2 channels)/LPCM (16 bits and 4 channels). In the same way it has a manual and automatic control of the audio gain with which it records.
As for its manageability it has a removable handle in which the pilot light is located, it has 5 assignable buttons and a hot shoe for accessories in which you could place a torch (not included) or other accessory that the operator requires. It also has all the compatibility of the brand's own accessories (not included).
The shutter speed has a wide range from 1/6 - 1/2000 s and from 1/2 to 1/500 s in low light mode. The lens has a maximum aperture of f/2.8 - f/11, its shutter has 9 blades and in case you want to add a filter to the lens it will have to be 58mm in diameter.
