The Canon XA65 is an ultra-compact professional camcorder with a great balance of image quality and portability. It is the ideal camcorder for news, documentary and a wide range of recording applications. It enables high-quality 4K UHD recordings that can be easily incorporated into any wider professional workflow, thanks to the HDMI output. Thanks to outstanding HD oversampling processing, advanced autofocus, a Canon 20x optical zoom lens and HD live streaming using UVC protocol via USB-C and a computer, the Canon XA65 makes it easy to capture content and record it to SD, SDHC and SDXC cards (with 2 slots), or share it later in XF-AVC or MP4 formats.
This camcorder captures incredible 4K UHD and Full-HD images of superior quality thanks to the 4K 1/2.3" type CMOS sensor and DIGIC DV6 image processor. HD oversampling processing delivers Full HD images from the 4K sensor.
The camcorder's focus speeds are adjustable and the advanced hybrid AF system provides fast and accurate focusing.
The Canon XA65 records 160Mbps XF-AVC 4K UHD at 25P and 45Mbps Full-HD at 50P/50i/25P. For smaller files, it records in 150Mbps 4K MP4 at 25P and 35Mbps Full-HD or 17Mbps Full-HD at 50P/25P.
Output options for this camcorder include HDMI, 3G-SDI, backup and simultaneous Relay Recording via the dual SD card slot and Infrared mode.
The Canon XA65 has lens covers a wide-angle 29.3mm (35mm equivalent) and a powerful 612mm reach with Dynamic Image Stabilizer (Dynamic IS). The digital zoom increases to 800x with 5-axis image stabilization.
The CANON XA65 uses the 3.5-inch LCD screen to focus by touching the required AF point.
For specialized capture, record in slow motion at FullHD 0.5x or fast motion at 4K/Full HD up to 1200x. Color matching is possible with other Canon cameras via the Custom Image menu.
The Canon XA65 can stream HD via UVC and a computer, or add a date and time stamp with OSD recording. Two XLR terminals on a removable handle and 4-channel linear PCM offer professional audio options.
On the audio side, this camcorder provides 2 x 3-pin XLR connectors with 48 V phantom power, line and microphone options with a detachable handle as well as a 3.5 mm microphone input connector (2.4 VDC power supply voltage) and a built-in microphone.
As for the audio recording format of the CANON XA65, it can record in MPEG-2 AAC-LC (16 bits and 2 channels)/LPCM (16 bits and 4 channels). It also has a manual and automatic control of the audio gain with which it records.
Continuing with the outputs that the Canon XA65 has an HDMI output (minijack) in addition to a 3G-SDI output and the above mentioned USB type C high speed compatible with point-to-point and UVC class.
As for the operability of the camcorder, Canon provides it with a removable handle on which the pilot light is located, has 5 assignable buttons plus an accessory shoe in which a torch (not included) or other accessory required by the operator could be placed.
The shutter speed of the CANON XA65 is 1/6 - 1/2000 s and 1/2 to 1/500 s in low light mode providing a wide range of apertures.
