It allows control of the equipment through a computer and an Internet browser using the ethernet connection and also has a DB-9 connector for RS-422 control. Redundant XLR power inputs allow for a power supply failure with a second one as a backup, so that not a single frame of the recording is lost.
The Ki Pro Ultra 12G can record on DCI 4K/UHD 4K/2K/HD at six different ProRes quality levels, including 4444 XQ. This allows you to record your footage on the same codec accessible by many NLE systems, avoiding the need for transcoding before editing. Avid's DNxHD and DNxHR codecs are also supported, and you can record directly, allowing you to take your captured footage directly to an Avid editing system. A single 4K channel can be recorded using the DNxHR codec, DNxHD is also limited to single channel recording.
It has a single 12G-SDI input and output, as well as three 3G-SDI inputs and outputs. It also has HDMI 2.0 type A input and output connectors, as well as a dedicated SDI monitor output. Integrated SFP cages allow you to get optional SFP connectors, which enable the Ki Pro Ultra 12G to work with SDI over fiber.
It provides support for its DCI 4K/UHD 4K/HD HDR ducts to HDMI- and SDI-compliant displays by generating HDR metadata according to HDMI v2.0a/CTA-861.3 and SMPTE 352, which includes HDR 10 (PQ) and HLG for both input and output.
It supports the Quad Split square format and two-sample Interleave, offering a wide range of options for DCI and UltraHD 4K recording and playback. It offers two slots for the AJA Pak media that allows almost endless recording, as it will automatically switch to a new pack when the first one is full. It is compatible with the Pak 2000, Pak 1000, Pak 512 and Pak 256, and can be formatted in HFS+ or exFAT. Subtitles are supported following CEA-608 or CEA-708 protocols.
The unit has redundant 4-pin XLR power inputs that support a 12 to 18 VDC input from a battery or other power source. An included AC/DC power supply allows you to operate the unit from mains power from virtually anywhere in the world, and includes Ki Protect, a feature that helps ensure data integrity if a media unit is accidentally removed or loses power during recording.
