The Panasonic DC-BGH1 is a cinema camera in the company's line of compact designs, featuring a modular box-style design with a miniature form factor. This feature makes it perfect for working with gimbals or drones. On the other hand, another of its strengths is its ability for live streaming or vlogging. This cinema camera is a camera with a 10.2 megapixel Micro Four Thirds (MFT) Live MOS sensor with Dual Native ISO technology. Dual Native ISO is a technology that links two separate native ISO circuits, which is used in Panasonic Varicam models for professionals. The lens mount is also Micro Four Thirds compatible with Panasonic lenses.
The Panasonic sensor offers V-Log L-curve recording that provides 13 steps of dynamic range which is a great asset for later post-production of recorded material, while colour grading can use the same LUT tables as V-Log and Cinelike. Continuing with colour, it's an HLG Color (Hybrid Log-Gamma) compatible camera for vivid images that aid professional colour grading. There are many features within this small camera that make it a reference production solution in any mobile and multi-camera production environment.
Panasonic goes for versatility and portability with this small camera (in dimensions: 93mm x 93mm x 78mm and 545gr), you can perform simultaneous internal C4K/4K recording at 60/50p 4:2:0 10bit 4:2:0 and simultaneous external recording with live output via HDMI C4K/4K at 60/50p 4:2:2:2 10bit 4:2:0. This small camera provides multiple ways to record in high data rate files in ALL-Intra, Long GOP, MOV and MP4 recording formats with H.264 and H.265 / HEVC codecs.
This Panasonic DC-BGH1 can generate 4K images through its HDMI 2.0 output. Another important feature is that it allows simultaneous output via HDMI and 3G-SDI, so you can use one signal for monitoring and another for recording. This camera also supports speeds up to 240p at 1080 for high quality slow motion video. LUTs can be loaded via one of its SD slots.
This Panasonic DC-BGH1 cinema camera, in addition to the other uses mentioned above, is also an ideal camera for multi-camera environments, as it includes BNC timecode and genlock ports that can be synchronised with other cameras for easy synchronisation in post-production. Its RJ45 Gigabit LAN port allows you to synchronise with another Panasonic DC-BGH1 video camera on a network, manage camera settings and functions, and even perform direct IP streaming with a future firmware upgrade. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functions are also built-in to monitor, configure and control via a smartphone or tablet using the LUMIX Sync app.
This cinema camera is loaded with new features, for the first time on Lumix, it supports GenLock input allowing live streaming and control of multiple cameras. When used in conjunction with the timecode function, it satisfies high-precision live video production.
