Datapath VisionAV DVI-I and Composite Capture Card

DTP-VisionAV/F

The Datapath VisionAV is a PCI Express x4 capture card with up to 800MB/s bandwidth. The VisionAV has 256MB of memory allowing triple buffering for all modes. It can capture progressive and interlaced digital video, with resolutions up to 4096x4096 at 165MHz clock for DVI and 170MHz for analogue RGB.

Vision cards provide high-performance DMA to system memory or directly to graphics memory, for fast frame rates, with low latency. It is compatible with the Windows Vision driver and also supports DirectShow and RGBEasy SDK. A single Vision supports up to 16 independent scaling factors, colour spaces and frame rates. Datapath cards support Timestamp to synchronise capture between inputs, cards and system. It can be used for edge blending, frame stitching, stereoscopy and applications using genlocked fonts.

The Datapath VisionAV provides the ability to simultaneously capture SD and HD video via a DVI-I or HDMI capture channel and a Composite Video capture channel.

The VisionAV is a four-lane PCI Express capture card, offering up to 800MB/s bandwidth from the capture engine itself. The VisionAV has 256MB of buffer memory, allowing triple buffering for all video modes for uninterrupted playback. It can also capture digital video in progressive and interlaced modes, with resolutions up to 4096x4096, at up to 165MHz pixel clock for DVI and 170MHz for analogue RGB. This card provides HDMI audio capture and streaming from the DVI channel, as well as balanced and unbalanced analogue audio capture.

Features of the Vision range

The Vision range provides high-performance DMA for transfers to system memory or directly to graphics memory, enabling low latency and fast frame rates in all applications. The full range of Datapath video capture boards support the generic Windows Vision driver and a command line interface that also supports DirectShow and RGBEasy SDK.

A single Vision device supports up to 16 independent scaling factors, colour spaces and frame rates. Datapath capture cards support timestamp for capture synchronisation between inputs, cards and systems. This is useful for use in edge blending, frame stacking, stereoscopy and many more applications that use synchronised sources.

The VisionAV has two independent video capture channels: one that supports high-definition capture and a second that accepts both standard-definition composite video. The VisionAV also adds analogue audio capture, which can be seamlessly synchronised with either video capture channel.

High definition signals are input through a DVI-I connector and support HDMI, DVI, RGB and Analogue Component (YPbPr) video formats, all with resolutions up to 4096x4096 pixels, and support 1080p (1920x1080) at 60 frames per second. The standard definition channel accepts composite video on a single RCA connector and can auto-detect PAL, NTSC and SECAM formats, up to 720×576 at 16-bit colour.

The VisionAV captures both video channels simultaneously and stores them in three on-board buffers, along with an audio stream that can be selected from either the HDMI or analogue audio port. This data can then be processed and copied via DMA transfers to the host system for display, storage or transmission.

Applications

The VisionAV is the ideal solution for applications that require capturing analogue or DVI sources in real time and processing them with low latency. Typical applications include capturing analogue or DVI sources from PCs, MACs, industrial/medical equipment, cameras and other video equipment streaming video applications and video wall controllers.

The addition of support for simultaneous analog and digital audio capture makes it a versatile capture card for streaming, webcasting, video conferencing and many other applications.

Video streaming

The WDM streaming controller supports the following applications, for encoding, recording and transmitting video over networks or the Internet:

  • Dataton WatchOut
  • Microsoft Expression Encoder
  • Microsoft Windows® Media Encoder
  • VideoLAN VLC
  • NorPix StreamPix
  • VitualDub
  • Adobe Flash Encoder
  • VidBlaster
  • AMCap and other DirectShow compatible software

For more details, please refer to the Datapath DirectShow SDK documentation supplied as part of a typical installation.

Software

A single Vision device supports up to 16 independent scale factors, colour spaces and frame rates, allowing multiple streams to and from the card at the same time in different formats.

Supports timestamp for capture synchronisation between inputs, cards and systems.

For use with edge blending, frame stitching, stereoscopy and many more applications using gen-locked sources.
