Datapath VisionRGB-E2S Analogue and Digital Dual Capture Card

DTP-VisionRGB-E2S

The Datapath VisionRGB-E2S is a stand-alone PCI Express x4 plug-in DVI/RGB/HD video capture card, with two full capture channels supporting 1920x1200 DVI or 2048x1536 analogue resolution, and a transfer bandwidth of 650MB/s. The card captures the DVI/analogue data and stores it in three on-board buffers. This data is then copied via DMA to the host system for display, storage or transmission. When using a Datapath graphics card, the VisionRGB-E2S transfers the data directly to the graphics card, increasing performance. The VisionRGB-E2S sends the relevant parts of each captured image to each display channel and instructs each channel to use its graphics engine to render the data. This maximises hardware utilisation and increases performance.

The Datapath VisionRGB-E2S is a standalone PCIe x4 card that offers excellent performance with 650MB/s transfer bandwidth, an improvement over the VisionRGB-E2's 480MB/s. This analogue and digital video capture card has two full independent capture channels, supporting DVI resolution up to 1920x1080 or analogue 2048x1536.

The VisionRGB-E2S captures analogue data in component or DVI/HDMI digital and stores it in three on-board storage buffers. This data is then copied to the host system via DMA for display, storage or transmission.

When using a Datapath output graphics card, the VisionRGB-E2S transfers the data directly to the graphics card, increasing performance. When RGB/DVI data is displayed on a non-Datapath graphics card, the VisionRGB-E2S sends the data to system memory or directly to the graphics card, depending on the software used for display.

The VisionRGB-E2S is an ideal solution for applications requiring real-time capture of analogue or DVI sources. Typical applications include:

  • Capturing analogue or DVI sources from desktops, MACs,
  • Image analysis in industrial processes requiring high quality and reliability.
  • Medical diagnostic imaging or in the recording or streaming of surgery and other medical procedures requiring high accuracy in colour reproduction.
  • Analysis of images captured by cameras or other video equipment requiring very low latency processing.
  • Video streaming applications
  • Video wall controllers

For streaming applications, the VisionRGB-E2S card can be used with Windows® Media Encoder to compress and transmit the captured video streams. For video playback, Windows® Media Player is recommended. Any application supporting Windows® DirectShow technology can use the VisionRGB-E2S video capture card thanks to the integrated WDM support.

Video Streaming

The DirectX driver for WDM streaming supports the following applications for encoding, recording and transmitting video over networks or the Internet:

  • Dataton WatchOut
  • Microsoft Expression Encoder
  • Microsoft Windows® Media Encoder
  • VideoLAN VLC
  • NorPix StreamPix
  • VitualDub
  • Adobe Flash Encoder
  • VidBlaster
  • AMCap and other DirectShow compatible software

For more details, see the Datapath DirectShow SDK documentation, which is supplied as part of a typical installation.

Software

The VisionRGB-E2S video capture card is supplied with powerful software for configuring the sequences and format of input sources and displaying the data. Simply connect your external DVI or analogue source to the card, run the VisionRGB-E2S application to automatically detect the video source format and display the captured video in a window on your desktop.

Applications

The Datapath VisionRGB series of capture boards are ideal for a wide range of applications including

  • Medical imaging: capturing legacy RGB modes
  • Multi-screen presentation software: recommended by industry leader Dataton WATCHOUT™.
  • Digital signage - integrated by C-nario into its leading open platform digital signage software solutions
  • Machine vision: obtaining high-resolution camera outputs
  • Travel data loggers: capturing radar images
  • Military simulations/applications: high-resolution video and simulation acquisition for command and control
