Datapath VisionSD4+1S - 4x CV and 1x RGB/YUV DVI Capture Card - Avacab

Datapath VisionSD4+1S - 4x CV and 1x RGB/YUV DVI Capture Card

DTP-VisionSD4+1S

The Datapath VisionSD4+1S RGB/DVI/HD and SD video capture card is a video acquisition card with 5 full capture channels supporting one channel of DVI at 1920x1080 or analogue Component/RGB at 2048x1536 resolution, plus 4 channels of analogue SD PAL/NTSC/SECAM capture and provides a maximum data rate of 650MB/s. The card captures the analogue/DVI data and stores it in 3 on-board buffers. This data is then copied by DMA to the host system for display, storage or transmission. When using a Datapath graphics card, the VisionSD4+1S transfers the data directly to the graphics card, increasing performance.

When RGB/DVI data is displayed on a non-Datapath graphics card, the VisionSD4+1S sends this data to system memory or directly to the graphics card, depending on the software used for display.

The Datapath VisionSD4+1S capture card offers excellent performance, with a transfer bandwidth of 650MB/s, an improvement over the 480MB/s of its predecessor, the VisionSD4+1.

This video capture card features five full channels for video capture, split into one DVI / RGB / YUV capture channel with DVI resolution up to 1920x1080 or analogue up to 2048x1536, plus four channels of analogue SD capture in composite PAL, NTSC or SECAM.

The VisionSD4+1S captures the analogue/DVI data and stores it in three buffers in the built-in storage. This data is then copied to the host system via DMA for display, storage or transmission.

When using a Datapath graphics card, the VisionSD4+1S transfers the data directly to the graphics card, which increases performance, reducing latency to a minimum. The VisionRGB-E1S capture card sends the relevant portions of each captured image to each of the display channels and instructs each channel to use its graphics engine to process the data. This allows for maximum hardware utilisation and significantly increases performance.

When RGB/DVI data is displayed on a non-Datapath graphics card, the VisionSD4+1S sends the data to system memory or directly to the graphics card, depending on the software used for the display.

The VisionSD4+1S is an ideal solution for applications requiring real-time capture of analogue or DVI sources. Typical applications include:

  • Capturing analogue or DVI sources from desktops, MACs,
  • Image analysis in industrial processes requiring high quality and reliability.
  • Medical diagnostic imaging or in the recording or streaming of surgery and other medical procedures requiring high accuracy in colour reproduction.
  • Analysis of images captured by cameras or other video equipment requiring very low latency processing.
  • Video streaming applications
  • Video wall controllers

RGB streaming

For streaming applications, the VisionSD4+1s can be used with Windows Media Encoder to compress and transmit the captured video. For video playback, Windows® Media Player is recommended. Any application supporting Windows® DirectShow technology can use the VisionSD4+1s thanks to its built-in WDM support.

Support for video streaming

The DirectX WDM streaming driver supports the following applications for encoding, recording and streaming video over networks or the Internet:

  • Dataton WatchOut
  • Microsoft Expression Encoder
  • Microsoft Windows® Media Encoder
  • VideoLAN VLC
  • NorPix StreamPix
  • VitualDub
  • Adobe Flash Encoder
  • VidBlaster
  • AMCap and other DirectShow compatible software

For more details, see the Datapath DirectShow SDK documentation supplied as part of a typical installation.

Software

The VisionSD4+1S video capture card is supplied with a powerful software application for configuring the timing and format of the input sources and displaying the data. Simply connect the external DVI, analogue or video source to the card, run the VisionSD4+1s application to automatically detect the video source format and display the captured video in a window on the desktop.
