Sigma's Art Macro 70mm f/2.8 DG, a 1:1, full-frame macro lens well suited for close-ups and macro subjects optimised for remarkable image clarity at short distances, is also distinguished by its optical design that makes use of two FLD elements, two SLD elements, one anomalous partial dispersion/high refractive index element and two aspherical elements to limit both chromatic and spherical aberrations for great clarity, sharpness and colour accuracy. The multi-layer coating also enhances image quality by suppressing lens flare and ghosting to improve contrast and colour fidelity in bright light conditions. In addition, a rounded nine-bladed diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh result.
It features a coreless DC motor that delivers fast and accurate autofocus performance, along with full-time manual focus override, benefiting imaging assets. The physical design uses Thermally Stable Composite material for durability in a wide range of environments, and a brass bayonet mount also offers rigidity and mounting precision.
This short telephoto lens is designed for Sony's E-mount mirrorless cameras, but can also be used with APS-C models, to which it provides an equivalent focal length of 105mm. It consists of 13 elements in 10 groups.
The true macro design offers a maximum magnification of 1:1 at actual size together with a minimum focusing distance of 10.2" to suit close-up subject work.
The lens is constructed of a thermally stable composite (TSC) material, along with traditional metals, for greater precision and use in wide temperature variations, compatible with the optional EM-140 DG macro ring flash when used in conjunction with the separate 65mm macro flash adapter for even illumination at close working distances.
