Blackmagic 2110 IP Mini IP to HDMI SFP Converter - SMPTE 2110 to HDMI Converter

BMD-CONVNVIPE/IP/HDMISFP

El Blackmagic 2110 IP Mini IP to HDMI SFP allows 2110 IP video and audio to be monitored on any HDMI monitor or television over long distances. Its compact design allows it to be placed behind displays, while connecting to a standard SFP socket that supports a 10G fibre optic module, achieving long distance connectivity. The Blackmagic 2110 IP Mini IP to HDMI SFP also supports 3G, 6G and 12G fibre optic SDI modules for compatibility with SDI over fibre video transmitters. It is powered by the included 12V DC power supply. Blackmagic Design has a wide range of SMPTE-2110 compliant IP video products, including PTP clocks and NMOS support, for connections via a video matrix panel.

Blackmagic 2110 IP products comply with the SMPTE ST-2110 standard for IP video, which specifies the transport, synchronisation and description of 10-bit video, audio and ancillary data over managed IP networks for broadcast. It can also resynchronise SDI inputs to a common PTP clock or external equipment can be locked to the reference output which is also generated from the PTP clock. Blackmagic 2110 IP products support SMPTE-2110-20 for uncompressed video, SMPTE-2110-21 for traffic shaping/timing, SMPTE-2110-30 for audio, and SMPTE-2110-40 for ancillary data. In addition, Blackmagic 2110 IP products support multicast, which is an efficient way to distribute video, audio and data from a single source to multiple destinations.

One of the biggest problems with SMPTE-2110 is the need for an IT technician to keep the video systems up and running. The Blackmagic 2110 IP converters solve this problem because they can be connected point-to-point, or via an Ethernet switch, as appropriate. This means you can deploy a professional SMPTE-2110 IP video system by simply pulling Ethernet cable, which will function as a remote feed and bi-directional video distribution. It's just like an SDI workflow. You can connect cameras to rack converters and get all camera control, programme video, power and tally, with a single cable. Or connect an HDMI converter to a rack converter for remote monitors. It all configures automatically and just works.

Point-to-point connection

Thanks to its careful design, two Blackmagic 2110 IP devices can be connected point-to-point with a single cable between them. The point-to-point connection is automatically configured, so there is no need to enter any settings. It's a simple cable that you plug in. With point-to-point connections, you get the perfect solution for live events, as the Ethernet cable can make connecting to the cameras extremely simple, with all control, power and video through a single cable.

Connecting via a network switch

If you're working with larger SMPTE-2110 systems, such as broadcast, you can connect all your video equipment to a switch and then make connections between devices by configuring the network switch itself. It works like a large video router, as all connections are made between SMPTE-2110 devices. In addition, all Blackmagic 2110 IP products support the NMOS protocol. It is more complex to configure, but much more flexible.

NMOS protocol for creating virtual switchers

The support of these Blackmagic converters for the NMOS interface specifications allows all equipment connected to a 2110 IP network to function as one large virtual matrix. The Videohub Smart Control device provides the ability to map sources to destinations using this protocol, which describes how such equipment, such as cards, are detected and controlled on an IP network. Compliance with the IS-04 and IS-05 specifications facilitates the discovery and registration of AV devices on these networks and the management of their connection, respectively. In this way, it is possible to connect sources to destinations in the same way as via a traditional SDI switching matrix.

Professional 10 bit quality

Blackmagic 2110 IP converters support high quality images. In broadcast, 10-bit colour depth is generally used, as colours are represented four times more accurately than 8-bit signals. The captured images are a perfect copy of the original SDI source, pixel for pixel, without any loss of detail, resulting in the best possible quality. This not only prevents loss of detail, but also gives you the opportunity to achieve perfect green backgrounds and sharp titles, as well as better colour matching. The automatic re-sync function makes it easy to transmit a regenerated SDI signal, with very low jitter, to all devices in the studio.
