TAMRON is a Japanese company that offers a wide range of original optical products, from interchangeable lenses for digital cameras to various optical devices for both the general consumer and OEM. This lens has been developed and manufactured based on
Fujifilm's X-mount specifications.
A compact and lightweight lens, the Tamron 17-70mm F/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD weighs only 530g and measures only 119.3mm long. It is the first high-speed zoom lens Tamron has developed for mirrorless cameras with APS-C size sensors. It features a maximum aperture of F2.8 throughout the 4.1x zoom range covering a focal length of 17-70mm, ideal for any use in both still and video (a full-frame equivalent of 25.5-105mm) and excellent optical performance.
This lens features RXD (Rapid Extra-Silent Drive) autofocus which makes it highly responsive, making it ideal for shooting video of moving subjects. When the sensor constantly detects a current focus setting, it allows continuous autofocus (AF-C) to accurately aim and achieve great performance on the job.
The optic features a moisture-resistant construction, fluorine coating to protect the front lens and a filter size of φ67 mm, the same as the Tamron series of optics for full-frame mirrorless cameras. It is a very practical lens that allows photographers and videographers to obtain high image quality while enjoying the benefits of the large F2.8 aperture.
Thanks to the performance of this lens it is possible to work at close range which extends its versatility as its shortest focusing distance is 19 cm at wide angle and 39 cm at zoom, this allows for impressive close-ups with smooth background blur. The optical construction of the new 17-70mm F2.8 features 16 elements in 12 groups. Two GM (Glass Molded Aspherical) lens elements and one hybrid aspherical lens element are precisely arranged to maintain high-resolution corner-to-corner performance.
This lens with a filter size of 67mm, like most TAMRON lenses for mirrorless cameras (even full-frame lenses), has the advantage that other lens accessories such as filters, filter holders, follow-focus rings, etc. can be used.
