The SIGMA fp L is a small camera designed for large projects or as a street camera, adapted to both professionals who require greater portability or amateurs with great knowledge, is the smallest Full-Frame interchangeable lens camera on the market. It is a modular, highly portable and very powerful camera. SIGMA fp L series cameras are built around the L-Mount mount, characterized by its large diameter and short flange focal length, as well as its exceptional durability. In addition to the large catalog of Sigma SA lenses, the SIGMA MC-21 adapter allows you to mount Canon EF mount lenses, and the MC-31 converter allows you to use PL lenses.
On the other hand, if you already have Sigma DC lenses (SIGMA lenses designed for APS-C size sensors) on your equipment, the SIGMA fp L series cameras feature the option of automatic cropping of the shot to fit the angle of view of an APS-C camera. Thanks to the converters provided by the manufacturer, as soon as a PL mount lens (MC-31 adapter) is mounted, camera data based on the T-value of the optics can be viewed.
This video camera has dimensions of 112.6 x 69.9 x 45.3 millimeters and weighs approximately 370 grams with a large cast aluminum clad construction that provides the body with high robustness and good heat dissipation. It also features a dustproof and splashproof construction thanks to 42-point sealing on the body.
This SIGMA fp L camera supports external recording in 12-bit CinemaDNG format and also video recording via the HDMI port using the Blackmagic RAW and ProRes RAW lossless codecs, thus expanding the options available for your workflow. Recording in 4K UHD (24p, 29.97p) makes the resulting files fully compliant with the requirements of any audiovisual production. In addition, the SIGMA fp L supports compressed RAW recording via HDMI with the ATOMOS Ninja V and Blackmagic Video Assist 12G monitor recorders (a firmware update of these devices will be required) providing a DCI 4K 12-bit codec.
As a large cinema camera it is capable of recording 4K UHD (3,840 x 2,160 pixels) video at 24, 25 and 30 frames per second and high-speed FHD (1920 x 1080 pixels) at a maximum of 120 frames per second. In addition, it offers a high dynamic range when recording video in 12-bit CinemaDNG format equivalent to 13 stops (in the case of the fp L) and 12.5 stops (fp).
With the SIGMA fp L, you can also display such professional functions as shutter angle, waveform monitor, it supports timecode and also thanks to its BWF (Broadcast Wave Format) compatibility, video and audio can be synchronized with video editing software that supports timecode footage added to audio (WAV files). It also offers compatibility with the Open Atomos protocol and if you need external stabilizers for your production, it is compatible with the Zhiyun Weebill S.
The SIGMA fp L supports HDR as thanks to the electronic shutter, the camera can take multiple shots when shooting with different exposure values. It also has features such as zebra pattern or focus peaking to make the professional experience complete and we can view these aids on a 3.15" LCD touch screen.
