The Panasonic HC-X20 is a professional 4K camcorder, offering high mobility thanks to its small size, 60p/50p 10-bit 4K recording, 24.5mm wide-angle, 20x optical zoom and HD live streaming functions. Its 1.0-type (1.0-inch) sensor makes the HC-X20 the ideal camcorder for event recordings and many other situations, thanks to its optical performance, which reliably captures the subject with the ease of operation that only a handheld camera with a built-in lens can offer. Its lens covers a range from 24.5mm wide-angle to 490mm telephoto thanks to a 20x optical zoom. The electronic zoom, or i.ZOOM, reaches 24x zoom with 4K resolution and 32x zoom with Full-HD.
The Panasonic HC-X20 supports a high bit rate of 200Mbps for 50p video recording with the HEVC codec (LongGOP/4:2:0 10-bit/MOV). The super-slow motion function enables 10-bit Full-HD video recording at 100fps/50 and 4K VFR (Ultra-HD) at 2 to 60fps for both high and low speed recording to enable highly creative video expression.
The face detection function of the HC-X20 captures subjects in situ, with no exposures or insufficient focus problems. Also, the addition of color recognition improves the tracking of subjects without interruption when the face moves to either side.
In both Ultra-HD and Full-HD modes, in addition to optical image stabilization, the camcorder's built-in electronic image stabilization detects and corrects hand shake in the 5-axis direction. The O.I.S. ball bearing system reduces friction in the drive section, which dramatically improves small amplitude blur correction.
The Panasonic HC-X20 records using a 10-bit 4:2:2 color profile up to LongGOP Ultra-HD at 29.97p/25p (150Mbps) or Full-HD at 59.94p/50p (100Mbps) on SD cards. It sends 10-bit Ultra-HD images at 59.94p/50p via the HDMI output located on the back of the camera.
The camcorder is capable of HD streaming transmissions compatible with RTSP, RTP, RTMP, RTMPS protocols and allows direct connection and distribution of broadcasts of concerts, sports, events and news feeds directly to Facebook, YouTube, etc.
The X20 integrates a Wi-Fi module, allowing Wi-Fi connection of only the body. The HC ROP app for tablet or smartphone, wireless camera settings and lens control can also be used.
The X20 includes three manual rings on the lens barrel to control focus, zoom and iris. These manual functions ensure professional work and allow the camera to operate with speed and intuitively. ND filters are built into the lens to eliminate stray light. Filters (Clear, 1/4, 1/16 or 1/64) can be selected according to the shooting environment. This comes in handy, for example, when you want to record at a slow shutter speed in bright daylight.
Each of the 2 audio channels is equipped with +48V Phantom power and XLR audio input with MIC/LINE selection and manual volume. High-resolution, 24-bit linear PCM audio recording with a professional microphone is also supported.
The approximately 2760K dot LCD monitor offers excellent visibility even in broad daylight with high brightness. The electrostatic touch panel allows easy selection of menu items. Simultaneous LCD/EVF output constantly displays the LCD monitor image, regardless of whether or not the EVF viewfinder is visible.
The OLED color viewfinder, with a resolution equivalent to 2360K dots, can be tilted for added convenience. The large eyepiece fits both eyes comfortably.
The dual SD card slot enables unlimited uninterrupted recording by simply changing SD cards, plus simultaneous and background recording for high recording reliability.
45 functions can be assigned to the user buttons. The HC-X20 has 14 user buttons in total: nine on the body and five on the LCD touchscreen. The O.I.S. and D.ZOOM buttons can also be used as user buttons.
