Genelec 8040B is a bi-amplified 2-way monitor, ideal for use as a high-quality near-field monitor. It is perfect for professional studios, radio or television control rooms, mobile units and surround monitoring systems. This model is equipped with a 6,5" woofer and a ¾" tweeter with a metal dome and DCW (Directivity Control Waveguide).

Its MDE (Minimum Diffraction Enclosure) housing features rounded edges and curved surfaces on the front and sides, ensuring a uniform frequency response and precise sound image by reducing edge diffraction.

Like other models in Genelec's 8000 series, the 8040B includes DCW, an exclusive Genelec design that offers an optimized reflex port, a robust aluminum structure, durable semi-matte finishes, and acoustically optimized metal grilles.

The low-distortion drivers are connected to dedicated amplifiers following sophisticated filtering. The enclosures are magnetically shielded and feature overload protection circuits and versatile response controls. The mounting options include integrated rear support points for wall and floor mounts, as well as an M10 thread on the base.

Genelec 8040B includes the Isolation Positioner/Decoupler stand, allowing the monitor to be placed vertically or horizontally. It also enables the acoustic axis of the monitor to be directed towards the listener.

Committed to sustainability, Genelec has conducted research to reduce the energy consumption of its products. One result of this effort is the Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS) power management system. This system puts the monitors and subwoofers into standby mode when no input signal is detected, consuming less than 0.5W in this state. The ISS system complies with the ErP-2013 directive. ISS is implemented with programmable electronics that, upon detecting an input signal below the activation level, start a timer before entering standby mode. This pre-standby time can vary according to the product and its specific needs. The system reactivates quickly with an analog input signal of -68dBu and turns on silently, without any audible noise.
