GENELEC 8020D - Bi-amplified studio monitor

The compact Genelec 8020D bi-amplified monitor is ideal for monitoring in small spaces and acoustically challenging environments. Despite its small size, it incorporates advanced acoustic innovations that minimize all forms of distortion.

This two-way active monitor features a Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE) aluminum housing with curved edges and remarkable mechanical strength. These elements provide outstanding image precision and impressive low-frequency extension, notable for its compact size.

Additionally, the 8020D includes Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW), ensuring excellent response both on and off axis, along with a long, curved reflex port with a wide aperture that enhances bass articulation.

Equipped with a 4" woofer and 3/4" tweeter mounted on the DCW waveguide, this monitor offers a free-field frequency response of 62 Hz to 20 kHz (± 2.5 dB). It achieves a maximum peak SPL of 105 dB at 1 meter with musical material. Both bass and treble are powered by 50 W amplifiers each.

For powerful surround monitoring setups, the 8020D can be paired with the 7050B Laminar Spiral Enclosure (LSE) subwoofer, providing extensive frequency response.

In terms of sustainability, Genelec has implemented an energy-saving program highlighted by the Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS) system. This feature places monitors and subwoofers in standby mode when no input signal is detected, reducing power consumption to less than 0.5W and complying with ErP-2013 regulations. ISS uses programmable electronics to manage activation and deactivation based on preset input signal thresholds.

The system activates swiftly and silently with an input signal level of approximately -68 dBu, ensuring noise-free operation.
