High-Speed PCIe Connection
DeckLink IP cards feature a high-speed PCIe connection that enables simultaneous processing of multiple high-definition channels (depending on the model), as well as capture and playback of sequences through them. PCI Express technology not only offers minimal latency but also precise synchronization with capture and playback applications. DeckLink IP cards deliver exceptional performance with an optimized and cost-effective design. In this regard, the HD models are affordable, and their compact design facilitates integration into next-generation equipment. Furthermore, the low-profile form factor of the DeckLink IP HD and DeckLink IP HD Optical versions optimizes their deployment in modular servers.
Versatile Compatibility with SD, HD, and UHD Formats up to 2160p60
The interfaces of the DeckLink IP cards support a wide range of SD, HD, and UHD formats, varying by model. The IP/SDI version incorporates IP 2110 and 3G-SDI technology, facilitating the connection of any SDI device to IP-based infrastructures. These cards offer compatibility with formats such as 525i59.94, 625i50, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p (up to 60 fps), as well as 2160p60. Each channel has the capacity to process an independent signal and automatically switches upon detecting the preset format in the configuration application or through the DeckLink SDKs.
10G Ethernet for Multi-Channel SMPTE ST 2110 IP Streams
DeckLink IP cards rigorously comply with the SMPTE ST 2110 standard specifications for the transmission, synchronization, and description of audio, video, and ancillary data over IP networks. Additionally, they maintain source synchronization through a common PTP clock and facilitate the transmission of uncompressed video (SMPTE ST 2110-20), audio (SMPTE ST 2110-30), and ancillary data (SMPTE ST 2110-40), as well as the shaping and synchronization of data traffic (SMPTE ST 2110-21). The main advantage of these standards lies in the independent transmission of each signal through the network infrastructure. In turn, these devices offer the ability to efficiently distribute information to multiple destinations from a single source.
Integrated Firewall for Comprehensive Security
An inherent vulnerability in computer systems and IP 2110 networks lies in their exposure to malicious software or unauthorized access, given that the Ethernet interface allows for indiscriminate data transmission. However, DeckLink IP cards mitigate this risk through the implementation of a memory buffer that operates as a firewall. In this way, the Ethernet interface is exclusively dedicated to the transmission of audio and video signals. Similar to other DeckLink product lines, data is transferred to this intermediate memory, which manages the playback of images and encapsulates the information for transmission through the IP 2110 channels. Consequently, direct access to the network is prevented.
Professional 10-Bit Quality
DeckLink IP cards have been designed to ensure superior compatibility with high-quality images, allowing for the capture and playback of signals in widely used professional formats such as ProRes, DNxHD, and even uncompressed 10-bit, offering a versatile range of workflows. This latter format is an industry standard in television, as it provides a four times more accurate color representation compared to 8-bit signals. Capturing images results in a perfect replica of the original material, pixel by pixel and without any loss of information, ensuring maximum fidelity. This facilitates the execution of advanced keying on green screens, more precise compositions with visual effects, and superior color gradations.
IP10 Codec for Formats up to 2160p60 via 10G Ethernet
DeckLink IP models support per-channel transfer rates compatible with 10G Ethernet technology, enabling the development of more compact, cost-effective, and energy-efficient connected products. However, the native bandwidth of 10G Ethernet is insufficient for the uncompressed transmission of 10-bit images in UHD resolution (2160p59.94 or 2160p60). Nevertheless, the Blackmagic IP10 codec resolves this limitation, as it optimizes the transfer rate of such formats with a latency of only 8 samples in the DeckLink IP 100G model. Additionally, its low FPGA resource consumption ensures the economic accessibility of SMPTE-2110 IP devices.
NMOS Protocol for Virtual Addressing
The compatibility of DeckLink IP cards with NMOS interface specifications enables all devices connected to an IP 2110 network to operate as an extensive virtual router. Additionally, the Videohub Smart Control panel allows for the assignment of sources to destinations using this protocol, which defines the method by which these devices, including the cards, are detected and controlled within an IP network. Furthermore, compliance with IS-04 and IS-05 specifications simplifies the discovery and registration of audiovisual devices on these networks, as well as the management of their connections, respectively. This facilitates the interconnection of sources and destinations in a manner similar to a traditional routing matrix.
Integration with Leading Editing Platforms
DeckLink IP cards offer native compatibility with the most widely used editing platforms in the industry, providing the flexibility to employ your preferred tools. In this context, they are ideal for editing and color grading workflows with DaVinci Resolve. Their capacity for simultaneous capture and playback of sequences allows for material ingest, real-time color correction application, and signal output concurrently. Additionally, these cards are compatible with other leading applications such as Final Cut Pro, Media Composer, and Premiere Pro. Furthermore, the creation of advanced visual effects is possible through integration with Fusion, After Effects, and Photoshop. A WDM driver for Windows environments is also included.
