Sound Devices 888 is a portable audio mixer and recorder designed for professional applications, ranging from film and television productions to documentaries and news. Despite being compact and portable, it delivers high performance capabilities.
With its 8 microphone preamplifiers and 16 channels, Sound Devices 888 offers exceptional audio quality. It also features 20 recording tracks, allowing for simultaneous recording of multiple audio sources. The 888 is the smallest portable mixer and recorder in the market that offers Dante for audio transmission and reception over Ethernet, making it a popular choice for live streaming jobs.
The Sound Devices 888 is fully routable, meaning that any physical input can be routed to any track, bus, or output. Custom mixes can also be sent, for example, to a camera or a team using one of its 10 buses. It also offers a three-band pre and post-fader equalizer per channel, allowing for frequency troubleshooting during recording.
It features a built-in timecode generator with its own battery, capable of maintaining timecode for up to four hours after powering off.
The 888 recorder offers multiple power options. It can be powered by Sony Li-Ion batteries (not included) or through its TA4 power input.
This mixer and recorder incorporates a full-color touchscreen and intuitive menu system that make the device easy to use. It also includes two SD card slots and a 256GB internal SSD for simultaneous recording. Additionally, the use of the SD-Remote mobile app provides access to transport controls and signal metering.
The Sound Devices 888 recorder is compatible with the SL-2 wireless receiver integration system and the A20-Nexus True Diversity Multichannel Digital Receiver.
