One touch and go

The VR-400HD's two seven-inch touchscreens make it simple to monitor video content and perform operations with a few quick touches. In PGM/PST mode, by default, you can monitor and select up to eight video scenes on the right screen and access various audio and video switching functions on the left. Activate Dual mode to send video to both displays, useful for events where you have to operate multiple presentation screens at the same time.
 

Touch controls

The VR-400UHD panel also includes a large selection of touch controls to complement the touch control. The right side comes packed with video controls, with dedicated scene/bank buttons and controls for transitions, keying, resizing and so on. The main audio functions are easily controlled on the left side via the usual faders and dials, which are very comfortable to operate.
 

Present and output 4K

The VR-400UHD supports up to 4K/60fps, the standard for high-quality video, allowing 4K cameras to be connected and signal to 4K displays and recorders. It also supports HDR and SDR formats, with automatic conversion to 4K. With USB-C* webcam-style output and built-in support for USB 3.2 2nd generation, you can simultaneously stream live to popular platforms from your computer.

Powerful audio and video connectivity

With its well-stocked rear panel of connectors, the VR-400UHD offers the audio and video connectivity you need to handle a variety of production situations, without resorting to mixers, switchers or other external equipment.
 

Compact and convenient

The Roland VR-400UHD packs easily into a carry bag and its compact form factor allows it to fit into the tightest of spaces. Plus, it fits into a 19-inch rack case, ready to mount on a sliding tray or directly onto rack adapters.
 

Seven 4K HDMI inputs

The VR-400UHD comes equipped with seven HDMI inputs, at up to 4K/60p resolution, and it is possible to use up to four inputs at a time to create video compositions. Inputs 1-3 are always available, while cameras and other devices connected to the four additional inputs can be selected one at a time as required. All inputs include scalers, so you can freely mix 4K/HD, HDR/SDR and Rec.2020/Rec.709 devices without worrying about format conversion.
 

Easy switching with scene memories

The intuitive and powerful scene function allows you to create complex video compositions and trigger them with the VR-400UHD's touch panel or dedicated buttons. Each scene can include a background layer and two Picture-in-Picture and keying layers, and the layout, size and cropping can be edited while viewing the incoming video.
 

Two touch screen modes

In traditional PGM/PST mode, you can mix between scenes using transition effects such as cuts, fades and wipes for spectacular results. Eight banks offer a total of 64 scenes, and eight are displayed at a time on the right-hand touchscreen. In Dual mode, you can display PGM1 on the right screen and PGM2 on the left, and map the two signals to HDMI and USB outputs* This is ideal for working with different LED panels on the left and right sides of a stage, allowing you to monitor and control both at the same time.

Import and view still images

Complement events with JPEG, BMP and PNG still images imported from a USB flash drive. Up to eight images can be stored in the VR-400UHD's internal memory, ready to display transitions between presenters, graphics during pauses, and transparent PNG files for titles and lower thirds.
 

One camera with multiple views

If your production requires a wide shot of the stage, a medium shot of a group of speakers and close-ups of each speaker, the Roland VR-400UHD meets this need with the built-in Region of Interest [ROI] feature. This allows you to focus on a single 4K camera and use the VR-400UHD's scaling and shared input functions to cut out different shots, which you can assign to scenes for instant switching.
 

Flexible HDMI outputs

The VR-400UHD includes two 4K HDMI outputs that support down-scaling to FHD, and you can assign PGM or PST to each separately. There is also a dedicated HDMI HD output, which outputs the same image as the PGM/PST touchscreen at a fixed resolution of 720p. This output is perfect for generating operation previews in larger installations.
 

4K USB-C livestreaming

The high-performance USB-C output covers all your livestreaming needs, and 2nd generation USB 3.2 support allows you to stream at resolutions up to 4K/30 fps.* The computer recognises the VR-400UHD as a standard webcam when connected, so just select it as the audio and video source on your favourite platform and start streaming. The USB output includes a dedicated logo function, allowing you to embed custom characters into the video during streaming.
 
* 4K livestreaming requires a USB 3.2 2nd generation (10 Gbps) cable, a USB 3.2 2nd generation compatible computer and bandwidth that supports 4K streaming. When using a USB 3.0 or USB 3.2 2nd generation cable, the maximum output format is 1080p/60 fps.
 

Multi-channel audio inputs

Full analogue audio connectivity includes four balanced XLR/TRS combo jacks with high-quality mic preamps and phantom power. There are two additional mic inputs on TRS jacks, plus two pairs of stereo RCA inputs for connecting line devices. Embedded digital audio from HDMI and USB-connected sources can also be mixed.
 

Manual mixing

The left side of the VR-400UHD's panel includes faders and dials for audio inputs, master output and headphones, with convenient manual control for handling live production. The top touch screen expands options with quick access to mute, solo and advanced parameters for each channel.
 

Advanced sound processing

Includes full EQ and dynamics processing on each channel to shape and polish the sound. Powerful troubleshooting tools are available, with automatic feedback control, audio sync alignment, hiss reduction, noise suppression and more.
 

Automatic tracking of the action

When you have many presenters, you need to follow the action and switch audio and video at the same time. The VR-400UHD's audio and video switching automation features simplify this complex task. So your workload is greatly reduced, and you enjoy a much smoother experience.
