Tamron has developed a 70-300MM F/4.5-6.3 DI III RXD variable zoom lens with Nikon Z and Sony E mount is the first model designed for full frame mirrorless cameras. It is developed as a lightweight, portable lens with the idea of making telephoto shooting easier for photographers around the world. It is a very small (148mm) and lightweight (545g) 70-300mm telezoom lens offering exceptional image quality.
This lens has an AF system that incorporates the exceptionally quiet RXD (Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive) stepping motor. Compatible with the functions of Sony E cameras, including in-body stabilizer and autofocus to the eye, this telezoom makes it possible to comfortably enjoy the high speed and precision required at these focal lengths even when shooting handheld.
With a focus on ultra-lightweight design, this lens has achieved the perfect balance between light weight (545g) and compact size (148mm long), including a maximum diameter of 77mm, without sacrificing image quality. Its optical design includes 15 elements distributed in 10 groups, with an LD (low dispersion) lens to eliminate axial chromatic aberrations and other aberrations typical of telephoto zoom lenses. At maximum zoom it offers excellent edge-to-edge resolution. Its optical construction is extremely efficient for its size and weight.
If mounted on a Sony E the optical performance can be further enhanced by employing the lens correction functions found on those cameras. It can also be used on Sony APS-C sensor cameras by applying a crop factor so that a zoom of up to 450mm can be achieved.
This lens has an incredible focusing motor that is not only fast but also very accurate, it incorporates a sensor that detects the exact position of the lens while the RXD motor is responsible for adjusting the AF optimally. This results in precise, ultra-fast and constant autofocusing.
This lens has a special sealing on sensitive areas such as the mount through which moisture or rain could enter. This feature increases the protection of the lens when shooting outdoors and under adverse weather conditions. Therefore, this lens is suitable for work at any time of the year and in any geographical situation.
