Tamron has released a new 17-50mm variable zoom lens with F/4 aperture for Sony E mount. Given its focal length, it has a range from ultra-wide to standard. Ideal for both still photography and video recording, it is also a lens that achieves excellent optical performance throughout the zoom range, with edge-to-edge sharpness.
 
The Tamron 17-50mm F/4 Di III VXD incorporates the VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focusing mechanism which provides superior quiet and agile performance, and achieves high-speed, high-precision autofocusing. This lens has a minimum focusing distance in wide angle of 19cm and in tele of 30cm. Due to its size and weight, it is a lens for both advanced amateurs and professionals looking for portability.

TAMRON is a Japanese company that offers a wide range of original optical products, from interchangeable lenses for digital cameras to various optical devices for both the general consumer and OEM. This lens has been developed and manufactured based on E-mount specifications.
 
A compact and easy to handle lens, the Tamron 17-50mm F4 Di III VXD weighs only 460g and measures only 114.4mm long, making it have a form factor that is well balanced on a Sony mirrorless camera body. This Tamron employs an internal zoom mechanism that keeps the lens barrel at its fixed length, making it easy to balance when framing still or video shots or when used with stabilizer or gimbal. 
 
Tamron has made this lens with a moisture-resistant construction, which makes it even more versatile because it can be used in any weather condition or geographical situation (beach, mountain, ...). Due to its compact size makes it a very dedicated lens for adventure sports or shooting with more complications due to its location.
 
The autofocus of the Tamron 17-50mm F4 uses the VXD linear motor focusing mechanism to achieve class-leading high-speed, high-precision autofocusing. It has fast and accurate focusing on moving objects and subjects, users can easily switch to a fast shooting pace depending on the needs of the job.
 
Thanks to the performance of this lens it is possible to work at close range which extends its versatility the minimum focusing distance of the 17-50mm F4 is 0.19m at the wide end and 0.30m at the standard 50mm end. Working distance at 17mm is only about 5.7cm, closer even than most non-zoom lenses. 
 
This lens has a filter size of 67mm, the same as most TAMRON lenses for mirrorless cameras, this is a great advantage and is that you will be able to use accessories from other lenses such as filters, filter holders, follow-focus rings, ...
