TAMRON is a Japanese company that offers a wide range of original optical products, from interchangeable lenses for digital cameras to various optical devices for both the general consumer and OEM. This lens has been developed and manufactured based on
Fujifilm's X-mount specifications.
A compact and lightweight lens, the
Tamron 11-20mm F/2.8 Di III-A RXD weighs only 335g and measures only 86.2mm long. It is the world's first ultra-wide-angle lens for mirrorless APS-C cameras with a fast F/2.8 aperture. It features a maximum aperture of F2.8 throughout the zoom range covering a focal length of 11-20mm, ideal for any use in both still and video (a full-frame equivalent of 16.5-30mm) and excellent optical performance.
This lens has the
Rapid Extra-Silent Drive - RXD (Rapid Extra-Silent Drive)
autofocus which is highly responsive, making it ideal for shooting video and photography of moving subjects. It has a sensor that constantly detects the current focus setting, allowing the continuous autofocus (AF-C) to do a precision job.
The optic features a moisture-resistant construction,
fluorine coating to protect the front lens and a filter size of φ67mm, the same as the Tamron series of optics for mirrorless cameras. It is a very practical lens that allows photographers and videographers to obtain high image quality while enjoying the benefits of the
large F2.8 aperture.
Thanks to the performance of this lens it is possible to work at close range which extends its versatility as its shortest focusing distance is 15cm at wide angle and 24cm at zoom, this allows for impressive close-ups with smooth background blur. The optical construction of the new 11-20mm F2.8 features
12 elements in 10 groups. This lense has Low Dispersion elements, these
LD elements have especially low chromatic dispersion indexes so chromatic aberrations are reduced. It also has Extra-Low Dispersion, these
XLD elements reduce chromatic aberrations that appear as color fringing at the edges and reduce image sharpness.
This lens has a filter size of
67mm, the same as most
TAMRON lenses for mirrorless cameras (even full-frame lenses), and a great advantage is that you can use accessories from other lenses such as filters, filter holders, follow-focus rings, etc...
