Fujifilm has created this new Fujifilm GF45-100mm F/4 R LM OIS WR for the GFX system. It is valid for their entire range of cameras (GFX100 II, GFX100, GFX100S, GFX50S II, GFX50S and GFX50 R). This focal length is equivalent to a 36-79mm lens on a 35mm sensor, making it ideal for landscapes (wide shots), and even medium shots and close-ups.
The optical system of this Fuji GF45-100mm F/4 R LM OIS WR has 16 elements in 12 groups, 3 aspherical elements, 1 super ED element, 1 ED element. Spherical aberration, field curvature and chromatic aberration can be effectively controlled. With this construction the negative effects of the various forms of aberration, such as luminance shift and colour bleeding, are minimised to provide perfect image sharpness.
The Fujinon GF45-100mm F/4 R LM OIS WR has a design weight of 1005g and a length of 144.5mm, this lens is completely portable and compact despite having a 2.2x zoom for a large format camera system. Fujifilm has equipped this lens with a linear AF motor for fast and quiet focusing performance to suit both still and video applications. In addition, it has an inner focusing design that maintains the full length of the lens during focusing and achieves faster shift.
Fujifilm also wanted to give this range of lenses weather-resistant protection, hence the initials WR (weather-resistant design) which allows it to withstand rain and dust as well as extremely low temperatures such as -10ºC. On this lens he also added a fluorine coating to the front element to repel moisture.
A major advancement of this GF45-100mm F/4 R LM OIS WR is that it features a powerful 5-stop image stabilizer, allowing it to take full advantage of the high resolution sensors found in the GFX range.
