Xmac mini Server lets you expand the capabilities of your Mac mini in unimaginable ways. It transforms a Mac mini with Thunderbolt 3 ports or an M1/M2 series Mac mini into a workstation. The xMac mini server includes two Thunderbolt 3 ports; the first is used for connection to your computer, while the second supports daisy-chaining up to five additional Thunderbolt peripheral devices to a single port on your Intel-based Mac mini or M1 Mac mini. This Sonnet solution includes support for 10Gbps USB 3.1 Gen 2, which means you can connect a USB device to the second Thunderbolt 3 port using the appropriate cable or adapter. It also fully supports connecting a 4K display at 60Hz. For connected peripherals that require additional power, 15 watts is provided to connected bus-powered devices.

The xMac mini server supports a full-height, full-length, single-wide card, plus a full-height, half-length card. In addition, if you install your PCIe card including a daughter card (or interface connector bracket) such as those included with the RME HDSPe MADI FX card, Blackmagic Design DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G and Lynx AES16e-50, a supplied mounting bracket allows you to securely mount the daughter card inside the chassis next to the main card, leaving the xMac's second PCIe slot open for another card. The xMac Mini Server is designed to allow easy access to its PCIe slots and computer ports by simply loosening two thumbscrews and removing the top cover. Once inside, installing PCIe cards and connecting cables to the computer is simple. The included Thunderbolt 3 (40Gbps) cable connects your Mac mini to one of the Thunderbolt 3 ports on the xMac mini server, linking the PCIe slots to the computer. The second Thunderbolt 3 port on xMac allows daisy-chaining of additional Thunderbolt peripherals, such as additional PCIe expansion (e.g. a Sonnet Echo Express III-R rack-mount chassis), professional video distribution boxes, video capture and playback devices, audio I/O devices, storage, etc.
