1.- What bus interface does the card use and what is the maximum bandwidth it offers for broadcast applications?
The card uses a PCI Express 4.0 x8 interface, which provides a bidirectional bandwidth of 16GB/s, ensuring that the card can handle the maximum performance of 12Gb/s (SAS-3) from its 8 ports simultaneously without creating a bottleneck, which is critical for 4K/8K video ingest and editing.

2.- How many internal ports does it have and what type of Mini SAS connectors does the card use?
It has 8 internal SAS/SATA ports. Physically, this is achieved through two Mini SAS HD (SFF-8643) connectors, which is the high-density standard for four data lanes per connector.

3.- Can 6Gb/s SATA and 12Gb/s SAS SSDs be connected to the same card simultaneously?
Yes, absolutely. The SAS-3 controller is fully backward compatible and automatically negotiates speed. You can seamlessly mix SAS (12/6/3 Gb/s) and SATA (6/3 Gb/s) devices on the same ports on the card.

4.- Will the H1208GT (PCIe 4.0) card work if I install it in a workstation with a PCIe 3.0 slot?
Yes, it will work. The card is backward compatible, but the maximum aggregate bandwidth it can support will be limited to the speed of the PCIe 3.0 x8 slot (approximately 8GB/s). The individual port speed of 12Gb/s will be maintained, but the overall performance of the assembly will be lower.

5.- Is there a way to prevent frame drops and ensure continuous video flow?
Yes, it uses ATTO's proprietary Advanced Data Streaming (ADS™) technology. This feature actively manages data flow and bus latency to optimize efficiency and ensure that data is transferred consistently, which is essential to avoid interruptions in broadcast workflows.

6.- What RAID functions does the card offer without the need for third-party software or hardware?
The adapter includes ATTO PowerCenter Pro RAID, a software RAID solution that supports the most common levels for balancing performance and redundancy: RAID 0, 1, 1E, and 10.

7.- Can this card be used as an adapter for connecting to LTO tape libraries and drives (archiving and backup)?
Yes. The ExpressSAS adapter is fully compatible with the SAS protocol required by LTO tape drives. This allows the same card to be used for both high-performance disk storage solutions and professional tape archiving solutions.

8.- Does the H1208GT have driver support for the latest Apple operating systems, including those based on Apple Silicon (M1/M2)?
Yes. ATTO is a leader in Mac compatibility. The card is compatible with the latest version of macOS and official support is provided for Apple Silicon architectures (M1, M2), as well as Windows and Linux.

9.- If there are only 8 ports, what is the maximum number of storage devices that can be connected via SAS expanders?
The controller has a massive addressing capacity of up to 2048 end devices. This ensures that, through the use of SAS expanders, the card can scale to manage even the largest JBOD storage arrays.

10.- Is the card high or low profile, and what cooling considerations should I have to ensure its reliability?
It is low profile (Low Profile MD2), allowing it to fit into most chassis, including smaller form factors (low profile bracket included). Although it is passively cooled, ATTO recommends a minimum airflow of 100 linear feet per minute (LFM) inside the chassis to ensure stable operation between 0°C and 55°C.
