The Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro G2 from Blackmagic Design is the most advanced, full-featured studio camera on the market. The Blackmagic Studio Camera offers the same features as larger cameras in a compact, portable design. Thanks to its colorimetry and wide dynamic range, it delivers exceptional low-light performance for cinema-quality images. The ISO value of 25,600 enables outstanding results in dimly lit locations. Other features include intercom system, Tally light, color correction and USB disk recording functions, as well as the possibility of adding focus and zoom control systems.
Designed for live shows
Although the Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro G2 is designed for live production, it can record Blackmagic RAW files to USB disks and can be used in any type of tripod situation. With a 7-inch viewfinder, it is ideal for interviews, news bulletins, sports, education, conferences, presentations and even weddings. The touchscreen includes side handles and physical controls, making it easy to follow shots and use the camera for extended periods of time. At the same time, being lightweight, the camera can be easily transported when moving outdoors and performing various jobs.

Leading Broadcasters use expensive studio cameras, which are large and unwieldy. The Blackmagic Studio Camera models offer all the benefits of these units with an outstanding viewfinder in a lightweight, compact design of reinforced polycarbonate with innovative technology. The 7-inch viewfinder is ideal for live productions and makes framing shots easy. The touchscreen display includes setting menus and controls for brightness, contrast and focus indicator. Exceptional in low light conditions
In cameras, the ISO value measures the sensor's sensitivity to light. The higher this number, the greater the increase in gain, allowing you to shoot in natural light or even at night. In the Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro G2, this parameter ranges from -12dB (100 ISO) to +36dB (25,600 ISO), in order to optimize the reduction of noise and grain in the images, while maintaining the full dynamic range of the sensor. The primary ISO value is 400, which is ideal for studio shooting, while the secondary value of 3200 is recommended for low light conditions. Gain can be adjusted on-camera or remotely from a mixer via an SDI or Ethernet connection.
Film look for live productions
The extraordinary 4K sensor and fifth-generation colorimetry of the Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro G2 offers the same technology used in digital film cameras for exceptional images during live productions. In addition, built-in color grading functions further enhance their quality and can be controlled from the switcher. The 13-stop dynamic range provides deeper blacks and brighter whites, which are ideal for color matching. The sensor's 4096x2160 resolution facilitates HD and UHD recording, and supports frame rates from 23.98 to 60f/s.
Photo lenses
Thanks to the Micro Four Thirds mount, the Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro G2 is compatible with a wide range of photographic lenses. These offer unparalleled quality, as they are designed for high-resolution images. In addition, the active mount allows the lens to be adjusted remotely, and controls can be added to modify focus and zoom from the tripod arms, just like on larger studio cameras. This provides the ability to track shots and operate the camera without taking your hands off the tripod to avoid shake, and provides the same experience as with more expensive B4 lenses.
Bright 7-inch viewfinder
The high-resolution viewfinder revolutionizes the way you work with the camera, making it easier to frame your shots. The Pro version includes a high-brightness HDR display, which is ideal when shooting in bright sunlight. It also displays camera and recording status, histogram, focus indicators, audio level, framing guides and other data overlaid on the image, and allows you to apply 3D conversion tables to your shots to see how they look. It also provides the ability to access menus and customize camera settings. The included visor can be folded down to protect the screen when transporting the unit and is compatible with the Blackmagic Studio Viewfinder.
Touch screen and physical controls
The Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro G2 includes physical knobs and buttons in addition to the touchscreen controls. Those on the right side of the camera allow you to modify brightness, contrast and peaking. The last one is very useful, as it makes it easier to fine-tune details in the brightest areas to achieve perfect focus. The three buttons on the left side are programmable and can be assigned different functions or changed via the menus. The touchscreen also provides important information for recording, superimposed on the image, and gives the opportunity to access the different camera settings.
Tally light for On-Air signal
The Tally light turns red when the camera is in program, green if it is in preview, or orange if it is an isolated recording. It also includes transparent numbers for clear camera identification. The Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro G2 is compatible with the SDI and HDMI signaling systems used in the various models of Blackmagic ATEM switchers. When the director switches between different cameras, the information is sent to the different units via the return SDI signal, allowing the ON AIR camera to be Tally triggered. This, in turn, eliminates the need for complex cabling setups and makes it easier to prepare for jobs.
SDI Embedded Intercom
The Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro G2 includes SDI connections, which makes it easy for the person operating the switcher to communicate with the camera crew during live events. This allows the director to select different shots and prevent multiple units from capturing the same image simultaneously. The 5-pin XLR connector for communication is located on the side of the camera and is compatible with all types of professional headphones. The link is established via channels 15 and 16 of the SDI connection between camera and mixer through the return signal, providing the opportunity to use a wide variety of audio devices.
Broadcast Connections
The Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro G2 is compatible with a wide range of equipment. The HDMI connection is ideal for Blackmagic ATEM Mini mixers and allows you to activate the Tally light, control the cameras and start recording from the mixer. In addition, these cameras include microphone and headphone connections as well as two USB-C expansion ports. The Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro G2 version is designed for dynamic broadcast work and offers XLR inputs for balanced audio. At the same time, 10G Ethernet technology makes it much easier and more economical to transmit all signals over a single connection via a Cat.6a copper cable.
Camera Control
All Blackmagic ATEM mixers allow cameras to be controlled via a protocol built into the SDI connection. Setup is simple, as commands are transmitted from the output of the mixer to the respective input on the camera. This provides the possibility to activate the Tally light and adjust color or lenses. Simply select the camera number and that's it. It is worth noting that even the Blackmagic ATEM Mini versions are compatible with Blackmagic Studio Camera models, as the HDMI connection facilitates communication between the two devices. This gives the cameraman more freedom to concentrate on the focus of the shots.
Live streaming over the Internet from anywhere
With the ability of the Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro G2 models to stream live over the internet, you can use a camera located anywhere in the world. To send the H.264 HD signal generated by the cameras to the studio, simply connect the units to the internet via the built in Ethernet connection or a 4G or 5G mobile phone to the USB-C port. The ATEM Streaming Bridge device receives the signal in the studio and converts it to send it to the video mixer. It also allows you to control the camera, activate the pilot light and communicate with the operator.
USB port for recording and control
The Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro G2 includes a high speed USB-C expansion port that lets you connect a wide variety of accessories and external drives to record high quality 12-bit Blackmagic RAW files. These drives can also be connected to computers for editing without the need to copy the material in advance. It is even possible to add focus and zoom control systems. The USB port can also be used to power any device connected to it.
Built-in microphones
The Studio Camera 4K Pro G2 is equipped with microphones, which simplify job preparation and withstand both shock and wind, making them ideal for recording sound in high quality, even in extreme conditions. These are located on the sides of the screen for more effective stereo separation. Also included is a 3.5mm audio input for microphones similar to those used in camcorders, and another for headphones. The Pro version offers XLR inputs for audio and an integrated speaker for listening to the return signal.
Outstanding sound quality
Since the best location for microphones is close to cameras, the Pro G2 version has been designed for the best possible sound. It includes two-channel XLR inputs for balanced audio, supporting +24dBu line level, a P48 phantom-powered preamplifier, -131dBV(A) equivalent noise floor and two digital converters with 117dB dynamic range to achieve the quality demanded by broadcasters and sound engineers.
3D LUT Support
By employing a logarithmic tonal response in Blackmagic RAW files to preserve the camera's dynamic range, these tables allow images to be processed before they are displayed in the viewfinder to prevent them from looking washed out. This makes them more pleasing to the eye when displayed on the screen. The tables are saved in the Blackmagic RAW files, so they can be used later in post-production, but they are not integrated into the image, so they can be turned off at any time. This gives you the opportunity to apply them only if necessary.
DC or PoE Power
The Studio Camera 4K Pro can be powered in several ways. It has a 12V DC power connector, with a locking mechanism that prevents it from being accidentally disconnected. In addition, the unit and all accessories can be powered via the Ethernet connection. In turn, the Blackmagic Studio Converter has a power supply that supports PoE technology, so there is no need to use other accessories for this purpose. This is very useful when there is no power supply where the cameras are located.
