The Skaarhoj ETH-SDI interface translates Blackmagic Design camera control protocol extracting information from the 3G-SDI input signal. This device uses the Blackmagic 3G-SDI Arduino Shield, which supports the following formats using SDI Level B: 720p50, 720p59.94, 720p60, 1080i50, 1080i59.94, 1080i60, 1080p23.98, 1080p24, 1080p25, 1080p29.97, 1080p30, 1080p50 (output only), 1080p59.94 (output only) and 1080p60 (output only). But the camera does not have to be running the same video format as the signal for data, so it is perfectly compatible with UHD productions.
There are several alternative firmware, in the case of this device, depending on its end use.

This firmware converts the Skaarhoj ETH-SDI Link interface into a device capable of embedding color data into the SDI signal when the connection to a Blackmagic ATEM mixer is only possible via Ethernet. For example, if the camera and mixer are in different locations, the ETH-SDI interface would establish a network connection to the ATEM and use it to extract data from the mixer that would otherwise be embedded in SDI.
With this configuration a single Skaarhoj mixer panel can connect multiple Skaarhoj ETH-SDI Link interfaces via Ethernet, which will multiplex the data and embed it in an SDI, to send the data back to the camera.
In this configuration, several Skaarhoj panels can be connected to an ETH-SDI Link device via Ethernet. The Skaarhoj ETH-SDI multiplexes all information received on the 3G-SDI output. If you have the Atem Talkback 4K or the Atem Studio Converter, this device is an ideal complement for remote RPC.
The 3G-SDI input of the ETH-SDI Link can be used to return the Program output or an auxiliary output from the mixer, to add colour and tally information when required.
