Almost every camera and digital video device has HDMI, the most common AV connector on the planet. The V-8HD seamlessly mixes eight HDMI sources, with Full HD support, even when the sources have mismatched frame rates and color spaces. And with built-in scalers on two of the HDMI inputs, you can easily interact with sources such as computers, tablets, smartphones, gaming consoles and 4:3 devices.

Video effects, layers, and graphics add brilliance to any production. The V-8HD's five layers for compositing keep the audience engaged with visually engaging content. Prepare the content according to the needs of the production and split it into layers:

• Layers 1 and 2: Background video layers, with live mixing capabilities.
• Layers 3 and 4: Two layers for PiP or chroma/luminance effects.
• Layer 5: One layer of downstream keyer.

The V-8HD stores and plays up to eight panel setups, which together with the powerful compositing effects engine, works to provide a completely seamless transition between different looks. There are also dedicated buttons to send any of the input devices connected to an auxiliary output, without affecting the main output. It is also possible to synchronize the auxiliary output with the program output, making it work as if it were a 2x splitter.

The built-in 4.3-inch multiviewer screen means less equipment to buy and carry around. From a single screen, you can monitor all eight video inputs, PGM and PVW, plus the overlay menu. Windows show camera status and embedded audio levels. It's possible to connect a larger external display, for better viewing or to make menu changes without moving the focus of the action.

The built-in 18-channel, studio-quality audio mixer combines signals from all eight HDMI inputs and stereo RCA inputs and has a full library of preset effects, providing settings for everyday production environments such as meetings and interviews, as well as for situations requiring noise reduction or microphone de-essing.

It features automatic video source switching, which can be selected from three modes: Input Scan switches the input source randomly or in sequence, while Preset Memory Scan switches between different presets, and BPM Synchronization is also available, which automatically switches between preset and program at a preset rate.

The V-8HD's remote control application turns an iPad into an efficient touch interface for the V-8HD. It performs essential switching functions, mixes audio with virtual faders, quickly changes settings and effect parameters, and creates up to eight custom scenes for fast and efficient setup changes.
