The Sennheiser MD441-U is a supercardioid dynamic studio microphone. Considered one of the most versatile dynamic microphones, the MD441-U is a workhorse, designed for any recording application. The supercardioid pattern of the microphone provides impressive rejection of off-axis noise due to room ambience, monitors, etc. The dynamic capsule withstands high sound pressure levels and offers a wide frequency response from 30Hz to 20kHz. This makes the microphone suitable for drums, percussion, electric guitar, horns and other instruments with a high transient (peak) response.

Its versatility is enhanced by a 5-position low-frequency switch and a 2-position high-frequency switch. The output stage features a humbucking coil, which suppresses noise and hum caused by bad cables or ground connection,
