Fujifilm has designed this Fujinon MKX 18-55mm T2.9 lens, a cine zoom lens designed for Fujifilm's X system. It is designed for X-mount cameras with a sensor size covering APSC to Super 35mm format. The focal length is equivalent to a 27-84mm in full frame.
This Fujinon MKX 18-55mm T2.9 offers high optical performance and convenient operability for professional film/video shooting. This lens is the first fully manual cinema lens compatible with the interchangeable X Series camera, and achieves a constant T2.9 aperture throughout the zoom range, allowing for a shallow depth of field, as well as a beautiful bokeh effect isolating the subject/subject from the rest of the scene. The lens design is optimised for shooting movies, as it minimises focus shift and optical axis shift when zooming, and reduces lens breathing.

This Fujinon MKX 18-55mm T2.9 has an optical construction comprising 22 glass elements in 17 groups, with six super ED lens elements and two ED lens elements. The fixed aperture throughout the zoom range facilitates the use of shallow depth of field and eliminates the need to adjust the illumination at each zoom change.
The MKX lens achieves advanced optical performance despite its compact, lightweight body by incorporating the full benefits of the X-mount's short flange focal length into the optical design. This allows shooting with a limited number of people. The electrical connections allow communication with the camera body not only correcting distortion and colour/brightness shading, but also utilising the film simulations of the X series cameras.
The Fujinon MKX 18-55mm T2.9 in the front focusing group of the lens elements and the zoom group of the lens elements are operated independently of each other to suppress focus shift when zooming, eliminating the need to refocus after zooming in or out. This is a great time-saving advantage on the most demanding shoots.
