Blackmagic Media Player 10G is a capture and playback device with two Thunderbolt ports that, when connected to a system with DaVinci Resolve 19, allows for overlaying images using an alpha channel. This feature enables the transmission of a mask and a main image through the two connected 12G SDI outputs to a mixer for replays. Additionally, the Media Player 10G has the option to disable overlays so they don't appear in the broadcast signal until the replay is initiated.

For precise content monitoring before broadcast, the Blackmagic Media Player 10G features 12G SDI and HDMI monitor outputs. These outputs enable users to review content before broadcast. Furthermore, the device's balanced XLR outputs offer the ability to add sound effects, ideal for replays and news content.

The Blackmagic Media Player can be placed on a desktop or rack-mounted using the Blackmagic Universal Rack Shelf. Its front panel is equipped with an LCD display that shows images and information about the signal format and audio indicators, available in VU or PPM mode. Additionally, the device features a headphone connection and a speaker that can be activated and deactivated as needed.

It offers Thunderbolt connectivity both on the rear and front, providing processing speed compatible with 4:4:4 and 4:2:2 files with alpha channels, in SD, HD, or UHD 2160p60. This port is bidirectional, allowing not only recording, processing, and playback of signals in real-time but also using a computer as a graphics processing engine. Additionally, it has been designed to ensure compatibility with high-quality images, allowing capture and playback of signals in a variety of formats, such as ProRes, DNxHD, or even uncompressed 10-bit. Captured images are a perfect copy of the original, pixel by pixel, without loss of detail.

The high-speed 10G Ethernet port allows access to network-stored content, as well as storing new content on the network when your computer is connected to the Thunderbolt port. With a speed ten times higher than usual, it offers extremely low latency. Blackmagic Cloud Store storage solutions also feature this connectivity, enabling access to shared files and recordings, facilitating collaborative work among multiple editors working simultaneously in DaVinci Resolve.

The Blackmagic Media Player uses the Desktop Video program, like DeckLink and Ultrastudio cards. This program has the ability to transfer data to and from a computer simultaneously, with almost imperceptible latency. This makes it possible to record images from the SDI input while sending data from the Desktop Video application to the SDI outputs. Additionally, this device is compatible with popular editing programs such as Final Cut Pro, Media Composer, Premiere Pro, Fusion, After Effects, or Photoshop. This ensures seamless integration into different workflows.

This model also offers an extended desktop function to display the DaVinci Resolve interface and a USB port for connecting a keyboard and mouse.
