Eizo CS2740 ColorEdge - Color Correction Monitor
Wide Gamut Color Space
To be able to use the full color gamut of modern film and TV cameras, a Color Grading monitor with the largest possible color space is required, otherwise visual evaluation and processing of the saturated color tones contained in the file is not possible. That is why the IPS panel of the CS2740 ColorEdge covers, for example, the large AdobeRGB photographic color space as well as the ISO-Coated V2 CMYK print color space by more than 99%. This means that the entire color spectrum of modern cameras is represented unchanged and loss-free.
Exceptional image quality
The Eizo monitor offers a maximum resolution of 3840x2160 (4K-UHD), a very good contrast ratio of 1000:1 and a maximum brightness of 350cd/m². This makes it possible, for example, to edit graphics and images with pixel precision. In addition, text contours are clear and precise. The LCD module with dual-layer IPS (Wide Gamut) panel (Wide Gamut, 10 Bit) allows a wide viewing angle, where color tones and contrasts remain stable in the user's viewing cone.
Smooth transitions and gradients due to 16-bit LUT and 10-bit mode
The LUT (Look-Up-Table) of the Eizo CS2740 calculates internally, with an extremely high color depth of 16 bits, and the panel then outputs the signals with up to 10bits. This means that billions of color tones are available to calculate the precise display of the monitor. In this way, display errors caused by the monitor, such as banding or clipping, which lead to broken tonal values in gradients or color casts in grayscales, are effectively avoided. Even nuances and fine structures in dark or highly saturated areas of the image are still displayed in a differentiated and detailed manner.
Out of the factory ready to work
To ensure that an Eizo ColorEdge monitor is ready for use right out of the box, each CS2740 monitor is individually calibrated and optimally adjusted at the factory. For this purpose, the gamma curves of the red, green and blue channels are thoroughly checked and, if necessary, corrected. This unique EIZO factory calibration allows the user to operate the monitor with the preset color spaces right out of the box. This elaborate factory calibration is also the reason why recalibration with ColorNavigator by the user is so fast.
Digital Uniformity Equalizer (DUE)
Each Eizo ColorEdge monitor panel is accurately measured over its entire surface at the EIZO factory. Any inhomogeneities in brightness and color shades are detected and eliminated. This process (Digital Uniformity Equalizer, or DUE) ensures that identical colors always look the same throughout the lifetime of the monitor, regardless of where they are displayed on the screen. This is the only way to enable precise image editing and retouching.
Unlimited hardware calibration
To ensure that a CS2740 monitor always displays the same file in the same way throughout its lifetime, regular calibration is indispensable. For this purpose, all ColorEdge monitors use the lossless hardware calibration method. Unlike software calibration, where there is always a risk of loss of display quality, hardware calibration not only creates a correction profile for the graphics card, but also adjusts the monitor's own LUT (Look-Up-Table).
EIZO software for quick calibration
Every monitor ages and changes its display properties. Therefore, graphics monitors, which require an absolutely constant image display throughout their lifetime, must be calibrated and corrected regularly. With EIZO's free ColorNavigator 7 calibration software, the CS2740 ColorEdge can be corrected within 90 seconds (measured with MacBook Pro and EX4), easily and without loss. So the image on the monitor will still look the same five years from now.
On the other hand, the free Quick Color Match software helps users see on the monitor how their images will look when printed on their Canon or Epson inkjet printer at home, even without in-depth knowledge of color management. In this way, images can be optimized for the special properties of the selected photo paper before printing and costly printing errors are avoided.
HDR gamma support
EIZO offers optional HLG and PQ curves for the CS2740 monitor as part of the ColorNavigator calibration. The optimized gamma curves make images appear more realistic compared to SDR, just as the human eye perceives the real world.
Next-generation connectivity with USB-C
Image signal, USB data transfer, as well as power, with up to 60W, all this and more can be realized with a single USB-C cable. The CS2740 ColorEdge thus becomes the central hub of the graphics workflow. Peripheral devices such as mouse, keyboard or printer can be connected directly to the USB-A ports. Mobile devices such as laptops or tablets can even be charged with up to 60W via the USB-C cable. In this way, a notebook and the CS2740 monitor can be turned into a fully-fledged desktop workstation in one quick step.
One monitor, many connections
The CS2740 ColorEdge supports a wide range of video formats via USB-C, HDMI and DisplayPort interfaces. This means that the monitor can not only be integrated into PC-based workflows, but can also be used with HDMI sources.
KVM switch
Operating different PCs with a single mouse and keyboard has never been easier. Via the upstream USB ports, the CS2740 has an integrated KVM (keyboard, video and mouse) switch. The monitor automatically links the mouse and keyboard to the currently active source computer. This means, for example, that a desktop PC and a notebook or a business PC and a private PC can each be operated with the same combination of monitor, mouse and keyboard. This ensures uninterrupted work and a tidy desktop.
Flicker-free
The CS2740 ColorEdge does not flicker at any brightness setting. The advantage: Your eyes don't get tired as quickly. You can work on the screen for an extended period of time.
Anti-reflective coating: more image, less glare
The CS2740 offers an optimal anti-reflective surface. By minimizing reflections by scattering reflected light, the CS2740 effectively prevents glare and eye fatigue. Eye fatigue is reduced, and you can sit comfortably in front of the monitor without a "forced position" to avoid glare.
Flexible stand
Eizo displays can be infinitely adjusted in height and, depending on the model, lowered to the base of the stand. This allows for optimal ergonomics, whether you are standing or sitting in front of the screen. You can also swivel, tilt and tilt the monitor stand in the way that is most comfortable for your seated posture.
The CS2740 can also be rotated to portrait format, which is a great advantage for portrait cable shots in people photography, for example.
