Features of the Canon RF Mount

The Canon RF mount is the lens mounting system used by Canon's full-frame mirrorless EOS R series cameras. It was introduced in September 2018 along with the first camera in the system, the EOS R.

The Canon RF mount has an inner diameter of 54 mm, the same as the Canon EF mount, but features a shorter flange focal distance of 20 mm and 12 electrical contacts for communication between the camera and the lens. This allows for the design of more compact and brighter lenses, as well as the incorporation of advanced features such as the customizable control ring and optical image stabilization.

The Canon RF mount is compatible with Canon EF and EF-S lenses through the use of adapters, without any loss of quality or functionality.
