The new Blackmagic Design Videohub 10x10 12G video matrix switchers allows you to connect multiple switchers without the need for complicated cabling. Thanks to its SDI technology, it provides the ability to simultaneously distribute all types of signals, in different definitions, without any latency, making it ideal for live broadcasting and production. It features a smart front panel with an LCD display that shows the names of connected devices and their respective images, as well as buttons for quick access and a metal rotary knob with a soft rubber coating that makes it easy to find sources. In addition, the Ethernet port simplifies control of the matrix via external or virtual panels.

Avoid cable mess

By connecting all SDI equipment directly to the Videohub 10x10 12G matrix, and making connections electronically, cable tangles can be avoided. There is also no need for complex system diagrams for each studio, as any source can be connected to a target device or a single signal can be transmitted to multiple devices. Since all sources are viewed on a single monitor, there is a great deal of flexibility when it comes to constant changes or even emergencies. It is also possible, for example, to back up using multiple HyperDeck recorders or to send the images to different processors, for all transmission platforms. Blackmagic Videohub 12G matrices can also provide additional inputs to ATEM mixers.

Blackmagic Videohub 10x10 12G

The Blackmagic Videohub 10x10 12G is an advanced video matrix switcher using 12G SDI technology that allows simultaneous, latency-free distribution of all types of video signals in a wide range of resolutions. Includes integrated control panel with LCD display, metal rotary knob, resynchronisation and external control program.

Smartly designed front panel

The built-in control panel on the Blackmagic Videohub 10x10 12G matrix allows for signal distribution, and provides an efficient solution for facilities that do not have enough space to mount additional physical panels. The design is similar to the Videohub Master Control Pro device, with a rotary knob that simplifies source search, buttons for quick access to the various connected devices, and an LCD screen that displays device names and corresponding images. The display also provides access to the various matrix setting menus.

12G SDI for high definition signals

All Blackmagic Videohub 12G models, including the Videohub 10x10 12G, feature 12G SDI connections, which provide support for HD signals up to a maximum resolution of 2160p60, making it easy to connect a variety of equipment. These matrices allow signals to be distributed in any format simultaneously. This connectivity on its own offers the ability to process high-frequency UHD images via a single BNC cable, which in turn can also be connected to HD equipment. This technology provides a guarantee of future-proof performance.

When working on international events, it is necessary to keep up to date with the latest technology and TV formats. As such, Videohub matrices support 525SD, 625SD, 720HD, 1080HD and UHD signals. In addition, multiple formats can be used simultaneously.

SDI technology allows up to 32 channels of audio to be embedded in the UHD SDI signal. The advantage of this is that only one BNC cable is required, and the audio remains perfectly synchronised with the images. All modern SDI equipment is compatible with this technology.

The Videohub 10x10 12G matrices are designed to support the highest quality images. Today, 10-bit colour depth is generally used, as it allows colours to be represented more accurately than 8-bit signals. This makes it possible to transmit 4:2:2, 4:4:4, 8-bit, 10-bit or 12-bit signals in any format. In addition, support for 12-bit SDI signals provides the opportunity to use these matrices in film projects.

Automatic Resynchronisation

The Blackmagic Videohub 10x10 12G matrices include an automatic re-sync feature on all SDI inputs. This process recomputes the received signal to provide the highest quality, which is extremely important as the image deteriorates when transmitted over long distances. Higher quality cables, such as the Percon VK6 or VK7, can partially solve this problem, but they do not prevent the loss of signal integrity due to their length. Thanks to resynchronisation, all equipment in the studio receives a regenerated signal, with less instability. This makes it possible to use longer cable lengths without technical problems.

External control panels

The Videohub 10x10 12G matrixes can be controlled remotely, which is essential in large studios where the equipment connected to the matrix is located in different parts of the building. Two types of panels are available. The Videohub Master Control Pro model is similar to the front panel of the devices and includes a rotary knob, liquid crystal display and direct access buttons. The Videohub Smart Control Pro version, on the other hand, is generally programmed so that the panel controls one of the matrix outputs, and each button is assigned to an input. In this way, direct cuts can be made instantly by pressing the buttons on the panel. For optimal results, it is recommended to install one of these panels under each monitor.

Control software Mac, Windows and iPad

Videohub Software Control is a free software program that allows you to control Blackmagic Videohub 10x10 12G matrices externally and inexpensively. It is available for Mac and Windows, so it can be installed on computers already in use for creative work. The interface features large buttons that are simple to use. Each button can be assigned to an input or output and has an icon for easy visual identification. They are ideal for touch screen devices, allowing them to be used as control panels. This software is also available for iPad devices.

Utility software included

When using a Blackmagic Videohub 10x10 12G matrix for the first time, the inputs and outputs have default names. However, it is very easy to change them to match the names of the connected equipment. The included Videohub Setup program allows you to change them and even activate the confirmation button when switching between sources or for specific outputs. You can also configure the front panel buttons, change the settings of connected external panels, or update the matrix by connecting it to a Mac or Windows computer via USB or an Ethernet network.

Development Tools

The Blackmagic Videohub 10x10 12G includes a set of free development tools that allow any developer or system integrator to design a protocol for integrating the device into other signal distribution infrastructures. For this purpose, a text protocol is used which is very easy to use. This eases the creation of customised control solutions for different computing platforms and embedded devices, e.g. Raspberry Pi and Arduino. The protocol can also be used with a Telnet application, in order to perform control tests with the matrix before starting programming. This is the same protocol used in the Videohub Software Control program, so it is certified for operation and includes all the functions required for complex control applications.
