AJA Bridge NDI 3G - 16 SDI-NDI Bidirectional Signal Converter

The AJA Bridge NDI 3G is a high-density 3G-SDI to NDI and NDI to 3G-SDI signal conversion platform for both multi-channel HD and 4K/UltraHD, all in 1RU. Designed to be integrated into any existing NDI or SDI workflow as a plug and play device, the 3G NDI Bridge is easy to deploy and manage, enabling simultaneous conversion of 16x 3G-SDI channels in or out, or 4x 4K/UltraHD channels up to 60p. The dual 10GigE connection provides enough bandwidth for NDI feeds to be transmitted with absolute reliability.

The AJA 3G NDI Bridge provides high conversion performance and flexibility, fully remotely controllable, for use in professional AV, security and surveillance, Broadcast, eSports, entertainment venues and a wide range of other installations requiring high quality and efficient NDI encoding and decoding.

Compact and reliable hardware

The BRIDGE NDI 3G is housed in a compact 1RU chassis, yet offers a high density of inputs and outputs, with 16 bi-directional 3G-SDI DIN 1.0/2.3 connectors for all baseband video inputs and outputs. The BRIDGE NDI 3G includes 18 DIN 1.0/2.3 to BNC connectors for easy installation into an existing SDI infrastructure. In addition, the BRIDGE NDI 3G features two 10GigE ports for control and all NDI I/O, providing support for up to 16 incoming or outgoing NDI streams.

Local or remote control

The BRIDGE NDI 3G can be controlled locally using mouse and keyboard, with the corresponding VGA-capable monitor. All BRIDGE NDI 3G functionality is also accessible remotely, allowing easy control through the same intuitive user interface.

Video and audio support

The SDI inputs and outputs of the Bridge NDI 3G support YCbCr, 4:2:2 10-bit video, with up to 16 channels of embedded audio, up to HD and 4K/UltraHD 60p. The 4K/UltraHD SDI I/O supports Square Division or 2SI.

The NDI inputs and outputs of the Bridge NDI 3G support UYVY, 4:2:2, 8-bit, with P216, 4:2:2, 16-bit (output-only support), again with up to 16 channels of embedded audio up to HD and 4K/UltraHD 60p.

SDI outputs can operate in free-running mode or use an external reference signal for synchronization. The default audio system can be configured for 2, 8 or 16 channels of audio via SDI and NDI inputs and outputs.

Maximum operational flexibility

The BRIDGE NDI 3G offers great flexibility in the utilization of the 16 channels:

HD I/O

All HD channels can be used for encoding from SDI to NDI, or decoding from NDI to SDI.

HD video I/O and key

HD channels can also be assigned in V+K groups, allowing dual V+K SDI signals to be combined and encoded to a single NDI output with alpha channel. Conversely, a single NDI input with alpha channel will be decoded and output as a dual SDI V+K signal.

4K/UltraHD I/O

HD channels can also be placed in 4K/UltraHD groups, allowing dual or quad SDI signals to be used for 4K/UltraHD encoding from SDI to NDI, or for NDI to SDI decoding, with support for Square Division and 2SI.

Simultaneous encoding and decoding

The BRIDGE NDI 3G is also capable of encoding SDI to NDI and decoding NDI to SDI simultaneously, providing a conversion gateway that can connect SDI and NDI work areas with ease.

Full SDI to NDI encoding

The 3G NDI BRIDGE can be configured to encode all incoming SDI inputs to NDI outputs. This mode supports the following:

BRIDGE NDI 3G can accept up to 16 incoming HD baseband video signals over 3G-SDI and apply NDI encoding to each of them, allowing up to 16 individual HD NDI channels to be output over 10GigE. Those 16 3G-SDI channels can also be used to enable eight dual-channel video and key groups to the NDI outputs, or four four-channel or two-channel 4K/UltraHD groups to the NDI outputs.

Full NDI to SDI decoding

The 3G NDI BRIDGE can be configured to decode all NDI input signals through the 10GigE ports directly to the SDI outputs. This mode provides the following

Up to 16 NDI or NDI|HX inputs can be decoded to uncompressed baseband HD video for output over 16 3G-SDI outputs.

The NDI BRIDGE can also decode up to 8x NDI streams, plus alpha channel, for conversion and output as 8x dual 3G-SDI HD Video and Key channels. By decoding up to 4x 4K/UltraHD NDI streams, the 16x connections can support Square Division or 2SI for SDI output.

Encoding and decoding combination

It is possible to use the BRIDGE NDI 3G to provide a combination of both NDI to SDI decoding and SDI to NDI encoding.

For a full HD workflow where encoding (SDI to NDI) and decoding (NDI to SDI) are required simultaneously, the BRIDGE NDI 3G supports 8 channels in each direction.
