AJA and Comprimato partnership
The BRIDGE LIVE represents an exciting partnership between AJA and Comprimato, both long-time innovators in the AV industry. The fusion of AJA's hardware development and video I/O expertise, with Comprimato's transcoding and Internet transport expertise, means that customers can expect the versatility, speed and quality needed to gain those competitive advantages. The unique merger between AJA and Comprimato ensures that BRIDGE LIVE delivers the performance and reliability required for live encoding, decoding or transcoding needs in H.265 (HEVC), H.264 (AVC, MPEG-4), H.262 (MPEG-2) and JPEG 2000*.
Simultaneous bidirectional encoding and decoding
The Aja BRIDGE LIVE supports simultaneous bi-directional encoding and decoding of HD and SD sources. Using a Broadcast facility as an example, it can receive up to three remote SDI sources, using the public Internet, and return a program signal to the remote location.
The broadcast facility receives the three incoming encoded streaming sources from the remote location and decodes them into SDI for editing and production use, while simultaneously returning an encoded program signal to the remote location.
The remote facility, in turn, receives and decodes the returned program feed for program monitoring via SDI, while continuing to encode and transmit three SDI sources to the playout facility.
In this use case, one BRIDGE LIVE device would be required at the broadcast facility and a second BRIDGE LIVE device at the remote location.
The BRIDGE LIVE supports up to 4 3G-SDI signals simultaneously to configure a multi-channel HD, or a 12G-SDI signal, for UltraHD connections for I/O, all in 1RU. Dual 10GigE Ethernet ports provide network connectivity and dual power supplies provide the redundancy needed to ensure continuous, trouble-free operation.
Management, monitoring and access to BRIDGE LIVE are supported via web browser or local display port. Indirect monitoring and automation are supported with REST and SNMP APIs.

The SRT open source project, supported by the SRT Alliance, is a collaborative community of leading companies and industry developers striving for lower latency Internet video transport by continuously improving open source SRT.
BRIDGE LIVE includes SRT (as well as encryption) to ensure that end users are well positioned to deliver their streaming video content securely, with low latency and secure reliability.
Metadata and closed captioning support
BRIDGE LIVE fully supports closed captioning and additional metadata, which is often a neglected feature in lower cost encoding devices.

Direct public streaming
BRIDGE LIVE provides a complete platform for live video streaming. Streaming support includes SRT, RTMP/S, RTP/UDP and MPEG-TS. The use of these standard protocols provides extensive support for Twitch, YouTube Live and Facebook Live streaming services. BRIDGE LIVE is based on the proven approach of AJA's HELO streaming device, while including flexibility for multiple inputs, wide format support and bitrates support, as well as metadata and redundancy.
In addition, while streaming to CDNs for direct delivery to the audience, the BRIDGE LIVE encoder can simultaneously deliver different types of streams to other partners for transmission, transcoding or storage.
Reference video for collaboration
In production and post-production applications BRIDGE LIVE allows you to connect remote artists and clients by using reference video, or provide a high quality window into production for those who cannot be on set.
Using BRIDGE LIVE means the flexibility to leave media and equipment in secure, managed facilities and have creative talent work remotely, with high quality video.
BRIDGE LIVE complements existing GUI control technologies (e.g., RDP, Teradici) by overlaying the high quality video needed for creative confidence and client/executive approval. The choice of H.265 (4:2:0, 10-bit), H.264 (4:2:2, 10-bit) with BRIDGE LIVE basic, or with the optional JPEG 2000 (4:2:2, 10-bit) license, means there is choice, and the flexibility to define how to address your needs in terms of quality and latency.
Encoding for remote production
BRIDGE LIVE also offers the flexibility to record video from the recording devices on set and transmit the output from the cameras (over a secure private line with encryption) providing a high quality window into the production for those who cannot be on set.
Remote video transport and contribution
For Broadcast, BRIDGE LIVE provides an efficient mechanism for remote, live SDI video sources to be contributed to the production facility to be converted back to SDI and made available at the facility's SDI router for ongoing production/broadcast.
Traditional secure lines for remote production can be very expensive, with additional fees for time before and after production begins and ends. BRIDGE LIVE allows source cameras and the local program to be transported over the public Internet, with no penalty for early or extended use during a production. BRIDGE LIVE also offers lower latency than traditional secure lines for time-critical productions.
Live production encoding
Telecom, IPTV and cable operators often receive an SDI source or a live event or live production, which is needed as a simple MPEG transport stream, with H.264/H.262 encoding. The delivered stream may be required for further processing (storage, production), or transmitted directly to an IPTV/Cable network.
